I have my mirena removed July 2013. My first cycle was only 19 days but they have been perfectly normal since then. 17 cycles later and we are still not pregnant. I don't think there is any higher chance of multiples. Anyway, it is possible to ovulate soon after removal. If u don't plan on temping or using opks, just bd every other day and u might catch it! Mirena is terrible in my experience. I had it removed after my doctor could no longer find the strings because it traveled into my uterus...Since even before removal, I gained 100lbs due to the hormones, have ovarian cysts constantly and have had two miscarriages that lead to me having to have one of my fallopian tubes removed. Its not pretty at all and my husband and I can pretty much kiss our chances of having a baby goodbye because since I had the Mirena taken out, my health has been surgically proven to have been affected negatively by it. I had a friend who got pregnant her first cycle after having Mirena removed. Myself though after having it in for 2 1/2 years with no complications except it moved 1 cm which is great they said, I finally got it removed but 2 1/2 years later I never got my period back. Back in the summer we decided to try for #2 so I went to my ob and he gave me Provera to start me back it was success first round and also gave me Metformin to keep my periods coming and it has been successful 3 cycles now. I still haven't got pregnant so we think Im not ovulatng so he gave me Clomid and I just finished my first round of it today. Hoping it works and I ovulate this month since I have no other more serious issues with fertility or anything. I was worried about twins since it runs in my family and my niece just had twins a couple years back, but at this point we decided if that is what happens there must be a reason and were fine with it.
