Depression and stressed caused by work ..help
Hi ladies..i need advice. I am 14 weeks pregnant and I feel more and more depressed and stressed as the days go by. And i.know this is caused by work. I am a computer programmer work for about 10 hrs a day. Although my job is not labour intensive but it's mentally draining. I find myself crying in front of my computer screen. We are short on resources and only 3 ppl in the team son the work load is huge. i have a 5 year old that in feel I am neglecting due to this which makes me.feel even worse. What do I do? Do i take an early maternity? Do I get my gp to write me a sick note? Please help x

One way or another I think you already know you need to take a step back so I can't tell if that means early maternity or what. Some places give you time if you are overly stressed but bottom line is your children come first and as their mommy you have to try your best to be there for them. Personally I don know how you working mommas do it but hat off to you. I'd try to take some sort of break for sure and try to regroup and see how you feel from there. Wish I could be more help but I do understand stress. You could say I'm an expert in the field and a pregnant woman needs to stay away from it the best she can. ;). Hope it gets better for you soon and you get some reprieve.

Thank you Angela18..i know you are totally work. I have had enough of the 9 to 5 job that's why once I go on maternity I have decided to not go back to work ( working was only due to finances) and open my own.home based business which will allow me to.be around my little.ones the time. I am booking an appointment with my gp today and get it sorted ASAP. I have never experienced this with my dd but this second pregnancy is just throwing me all over the place!

A sick note may help.... you may be signed off for a month... this might be enough of a rest to help you through the rest until your maternity leave. But do consider talking to your boss first. Also, you could get counselling through your doctor. A new baby is a change in your circumstances which adds to stress levels. I have suffered from stress and it got seriously bad, affecting my eating (Lost lots of weight), sleeping (wasn't sleeping), ability to think clearly and well-being. This can obviously have an adverse affect on your growing baby so don't delay... speak to your boss and/or your doctor straight away. You'll feel better with an action plan. Don't forget about friends and family - they can be great resources and help to lighten your load in great and small ways.
