Question

Could it be false??? I need help

Im a day or a couple days away from the start of my period. I took a test really early this morning and I have to say I had just woken up and the light was in my eyes. I was squinting. well I took the test and I thought it was negative. I went to sleep and a couple hours later I thought I should look at it again. There was a very, very faint line that's hardly noticeable. I'm thinking it was there the whole time. Im thinking I didn't pee on it enough because I have a hard time keeping the test in the stream. Is it false?

It could be an evaporation line. I would retest since you're unsure as to the accuracy of the use. Try using a clean disposable cup for urine collection and dipping the test into the urine. That way you don't have to wonder about if you missed the stream or not.

All HPTs instruction manuals will tell you that if your test is negative, it should not be re-read after 10 minutes (time varies w/ brand). This is because of the risk for the appearance of an evaporation line which can look like a positive test. Another thing (which I learned the hard way) if you're using an HPT that has the strip enclosed in a cartridge, you should not break open the cartridge and expose the strip. Within the cartridges are items (i.e. absorption pads, and/or pills) that have major functions ... preventing false positives via evap lines is one of those functions.
