Question

HSG pain vs Childbirth??

Has anyone else here had an HSG done? It's an X RAY to look @ your tubes and uterus, then flushing of the tubes to make sure they're working right.

I just had an HSG done and HOLEY MOLEY that crap HURT!!! I've been feeling sick and out of it all day since getting it done. Just wondering how bad the pain is compared to childbirth? I'm sure childbirth is WAY worse....just wondering.

Also how did everyone else's body react to it? The doc told me it increases fertility too...I hope so...lol.

I had my hsg done two months ago. It only hurt when the catheter went past my cervix but the dye never bothered me. After I did have period cramping and a little spotting for two days but Motrin helped alot. I had a csection with my daughter so I'm not sure compared to birth the pain difference.

I had my HSG about 2 months ago too and only experienced a small pinch with they inserted the catheter. It was a interesting experience because I got to watch the ultrasound as they were doing it.

I had an HSG done and I felt very minor cramping for just a few seconds towards the end. I have also given birth before (11 years ago) and they say that women who have already had children experience less pain than women who have not had children prior to the HSG.

This did ring true for my SIL who had her HSG done (and has not given birth prior to the test)....she said the pain was so intense she was crying throughout the procedure.

The pain of labor and birth can be comparable to the cramping you felt. It's all in how your body handles it at that time.

I had my hsg done in April and omg nothing could have preparedness for that! I wasn't very well after mine I felt drained & nauseous, doctor told me it makes you more fertile aswell, iv been in labour and it was just about the same pain as my contractions, iv never given birth naturally so I couldn't say if its the same as the actual child birth x

I never experienced major pain with my HSG - it felt like a tiny pms cramp. I took one muscle relaxant type pill, given to me by the Doctor. It was fast, I saw the ink flow through my tubes on the monitor and I smiled. I bleed a bit after, but that was it.

I had an HSG done almost a year ago and it was HORRIBLY painful... and I consider myself to be somone wo handles pain well. I had a child 8 years ago, and I had an epidural so I can't say I know for sure but based on the contractions I had before the epidural, I'd say birth is more harder physically, yet not emotionally bc you are expecting the pain where as (at least in my case) I had no idea the HSG was going to cause so much pain.

I had my HSG done today and it wasn't bad at all. After reading some of the blogs on here, I was really scared. My doctor was so gentle and he told me everything that was going to happen. I would say the pain was a 3 out of 10 and that only lasted for a few seconds when they inflated the catheter to let the dye into my uterus. I have never had a child, but I thought this procedure was only a little uncomfortable but not really painful except for a few seconds. Make sure you have a doctor who knows what he is doing and you willl be in and out in no time.
