when should I hear a heartbeat?

I am six wks preg this Saturday and just wanted to know when will I hear a heartbeat when go for a scan? I am not due to see my doc till 23rd may but buy then will be six wks and 5 days! should I see him sooner or stick to my appointment.

The heart starts beating about 24 dpo, but at this time u can only see it on an ultrasound, at about 10 weeks your dr will be able to hear it on a Doppler
