Question

progesterone cream while pregnant

So I have a history of preterm labor, maybe also Incompetent cervix. & miscarriage. My Dr told me that for my next pregnancy I will be getting makena shots(progesterone shots) starting at 16 weeks. But I miscarried recently in Nov 2012 at 13 weeks so could I start using progesterone cream before the 16 weeks? & when I start receiving the shots I'll stop the cream? Any advice? I heard good things about the cream.

Hi I'm 3 dpo, and I've just started using the cream if I get pregnant I plan on using it till at least the 12 week point.
I have no first hand experience about the cream, but have read lots of good things about it, and thought I would give it a go.
Good luck. Xx

From what I've read/heard, most dr's start you on progesterone cream as soon as pregnancy is confirmed. If it were me I'd get a second opinion or different doc. The sooner you start progesterone the better chance you'll have of carrying to full term.

I've read that if you have a history of miscarriage you want to use the cream during the entire first trimester until the placenta forms to prevent miscarriage.
