Question

Late Period - Negative HPT's? Please HELP!

Hi, ladies. I'd appreciate some advise. The first day of my last period was 10/8/10. I'm typically on a normal 28 day cycle. This was my first month that my hubby & I were ttc and I losted my period. 5 days late, but still negative hpt's.

When AF was supposed to be due, I had my normal PMS symptoms and every time I went to the bathroom, I was like... well, her she comes. But - no AF, not a single bit of blood, spotting or anything. It was like I went through my regular cycle/symptoms, but without bleeding. Strange!!

I now have mild symptoms, expect for one persistent (which I can't get rid of no matter what I try)... a terrible bad taste in my mouth.

What should I do? Is it possible that I could still be pregnant, but still getting these htp as -?

Sorry this was long! Thanks for any input. Marie.

Could still be too soon. A lot of things can make this happen. Maybe you ov'd a little later that you thought. Opks pick up your lh surge but you can ov anytime between 24-48 after a + test. When are you taking your hpts?x

Hi,

I'm in the same boat as you. I did have spotting - implantation bleeding, but apart from that no other symptoms or signs of period. I am now at 40 days (average cycle 38 - although I am irregular). All the hpt are negative.

I've done a lot of research and also spoken to a gynae nurse. I was told it can take up to two weeks after due period date for pregnancy to register on hpt. Some women have hCG surge early and some take much later. Also baby boys aparantly take longer with the hCG production.

So you could still be pregnant. Another thought is to check if there was anything stressful in the past month. I dislocated my knee a week ago, although this was after the spotting I still think it may have effected things. Just something to bare in mind.

Good luck - sending some baby dust! xx

Thank you, guest & sarahmc. I definitely appreciated your feedback this evening. I am going to wait it out this week and re-test. See if AF arrives.

I agree, maybe I ovulated later in my cycle and my period wasn't really ready to be due till now (or around now). Or if I am pregnant, it's going to take the hormone some time to build.

It'd be tough for me to think that 'stress' has caused my period to be off. For the past 6 consecutive months, I have had exactly 28 day cycles. I work a full-time job, but nothing more then I've done for years.

If I were to conceive, chances are very high that we'd have a boy. Considering I was the only girl in both mine & my husband's families ;-) But, either way... I'd be so grateful just to have a healthy baby.

If you want to continue checking this question/post, I promise to update you & let you know what's forming (or not forming! Lol) in my world.

Xoxo.

Just to be sure: when you say you are TTCing for the first month, you don't mean you only just stopped taking the pill?

I've noticed lately that not everybody seems to know that your 'cycle' (actually not a real cycle) when on the pill is completely unrelated to your cycle off the pill, so I'm just checking.

I promise to keep you all posted. Still no AF and still - again this morning. Frusterating.

Hi Mirena0110, I haven't been on birth control in just over 5 years and have never missed a period. This was my first month that my husband and I started just to try.

The only thing I did as far as timing is concerned was... chart back the start of my last 3-4 periods then go to an online ovulation calendar & had sex every other night up to, during and post what the ovulation time frame "was supposed to be!" Now maybe I did it really wrong!?... but I was just assuming because my periods are very regular.

June 19, July 17, August 13, September 11, October 8, November.... (to be seen).

Do you think I should be concerned? Like an ectopic pregnancy or something. I just really want my AF so we can try again or a BFP+! Obviously the later.

I feel confused now, as I didn't think this was going to happend. No AF and -'s. Thank you. xxxx

Hi, Ladies - Promised to keep you all updated!

My period was a week late, but I did start to bleed. My bleeding lasted a total of a half-a-day, then not even enough to fill a panty liner. It was red in color, just like my normal flows.

I am comfortable placing all my symptoms to... something else, with the exception of one:

I have a very strong metallic taste in my mouth? Very bitter. It's been their for some time and hasn't gone away. Why (if I'm not pregnant) is this here??? It's not like I can be imagining this one... Any thoughts?
