Hi,

I'm 39, will turn 40 in July. I have a 12yo DD. I miscarriaged twice before having her and one after, I panicked and stopped trying.

Now I really want to have another baby and I feel all this years on top of me all of the sudden!! I've been trying for 8 months and nothing... I started using B6 and soy isoflavones this cycle. Let's see what happens!!!

to you all!

Welcome anamoon!

lisserb,
I had d&c the same day as you, March 2nd at 5 am. my doctor was double booked that day but I asked for friday so I could have weekend to recover before workweek and my request was accommodated.
Before d&c hcg was 76,000. After the procedure it was 13,000 ; 1,200 ; 290 (I don't remember exactly on what dates it was taken) and the last one was on apptmnt day/ last Friday and the doc said "in single digits" and added "no need for more tests, you r good to go, af might come anytime from now till 4-6 weeks..."
But before the proceedure I was told that it might take 4-8 weeks for my hCG go down, so I hope you r ok, it's just take a lot of time...
let us know how is everything going for you

I like how you, ladies, taking such a great approach to all this ttc process- wise, optimistic but not sugar-coated, concentrating on relationship vs scientific approach how to do it step by step

p.s. I don't have other option but temping because m/c + d/c messed my cycle so I have no clue where I am

@esperanza -- I think that is amazing that they kept testing your HcG, post-D&C. My doctor sent me on my merry way after my D&C and told me that my level may go down within 4 to 8 weeks, like you said. I just had to wing it. It took about three cycles before my body finally got back on track. Those were probably the longest damn cycles of my life because I never knew WHEN AF was going to show.

It sounds like you have a much better grasp on things than I did, with temping. Best of luck to you!

Hello everyone especially the newbies

DMCJ: No offence taken, that is the reality, ttc at our age sucks, the journey is hard and thats why we are together.

Airiesing:Its true miscarriage sucks no matter how old you might be, but at our age the time to reflect is not there, its all about the next cycle and when can I try again. I think about the babies all the time and know that I should have a baby in my arms right now...

Esperenza: The first cycle after the miscarriage is tough, apparently the chance of conceiving is greater in women immediately after a miscarriage, I found this really played on my mind. I understand that all kinds of wierd things can happen, and its hard not to see signs and symptoms that look like pregnancy. I have read conflicting reasearch about pregnancy after miscarriage and most of the new reasearch supports pregnancy as soon as possible. My specialist recommended that i dont wait as time is not on my side. So I hope that all the signs are positive and you have a BFP soon.

Lisserb: i was wondering about you, its tough this testing out the bhcg, like esperenza said earlier it seems so crazy taking tests prayng for one line, when our end goal is 2 lines. We have a product here called menevit, it is a OTC product to improve male fertility issues I am sure there is something like that where you are. I know a few women who have one tube after an ectopic and they have had no problems with conception. Fingers crossed all goes well.

afm: I feel that ovulation is today or tomorrow, my OPTs are getting stronger and the symptoms are building. Praying for a christmas baby.
You know of I only knew I would definately have another I would be more relaxed and let it all go, which is dumb cause none of the stressing is actually impoving my chances. Oh the crazy crazy days... On a good note though the baby dance sure is fun again with MM approach, its great to feel the excitement...cant wait to see each other...well enough of that.

Good luck everyone, hope to see a BFP soon xxxx

Hi all I'm RJ I recognize a few names on this thread!!

I am 41 DH is 38 (young one I know!!) We have been ttc for just over 2 years now
We have been through ALL the test (s.a., hsg, ultrasounds, blood work and iui) and all supplements (epo, soy, vitex and even clomid)
now we are on to injections!!

First I have to get my base line blood work straighten out. Feb was a bust cause I never ovulated then AF finally arrives.....waiting to ovulate ...days go by and WHAM AF decides to show up 2 weeks after last one!!! WTF

SOOOO we got blood work done first week in march E2 to high....got more blood work done 5 days later....E2 even higher!! Also have 2 cysts (or follicles) that were pretty big (20 and 30 mm)!! Well now what? Well no meds this round just have to wait for next cycle

Well as of today I believe I am 3 dpo ..if I did in fact "O" (I didn't poas just went with temps)
Sure that this cycle is a bust since the follicles I did have were large

Just hoping that I "O" so we can start fresh next cycle and that the baseline blood work FINALLY gets normal so we can start meds!!

Thanks for letting me post!!

Hi ttc!
I remember you very well! We both got our so much desired bfp in the beginning of this year and we both ended up where we had started...looks like I recover not only physically but emotionally too because I am writing this with a smile (sad but still smile)...the most important that we are survivors, we are back in saddle and ready to move on(ready to give our guys the best ride ever he-he)... p.s. I know, I know (made my research about elevated temps and increased fertility)..but I don't want even to think in this direction right now and I feel very normal, my fatigue is completely gone, I am back to my hyper way

I didn't check the guy yet because looks like he's doing ok with his part. I had mirena out end of august last year (sh#% i should have it done much earlier) so basically we started sept 2011; I had chemical in Oct. then got my bfp on Jan.5th (lasted for awhile, i was sure it is it, we made an offer on bigger better house...got the house but not the baby - oh, well my sons are really happy and excited about the house, and they are even more excited about the road trip I am taking them - Hwy 1 Cali - it will be fun)

p.s. @DestinyStarr
ha-ha Actually nobody ordered my hCG test after d&c but with this miscarriage I learned that I can rely on Docs (no matter how good they are)only to certain extent..
What I did - I was showing up at the local lab saying "I think I have a hCG test order for me" They will look at computer then they always call talk to someone in a doctor's office and..I always ended up having a test done. :) When my doctor looked at my file she didn't say anything, she just said "I think we will not order any more tests" (I wonder if my doc realized that it was never ordered)

one thing I understand through this sad mc experience - I have to trust myself and take care of myself as much as I can. I was trying to get u/s earlier but no..everyone said "oh, everything looks great , we can wait till 11 weeks NT scan" This will NOT happen anymore- I will be more pushing, more aggressive, but I will find the way to get what I believe is important for me and my health

I agree Esperenza.

I push and push for what I want. When I found out I was pregnant, both my RE and my regular Dr said no when I asked for hcg tests. I went to an urgent care, laid my story completely on the line for that Dr, and she ordered two betas.

I got my early ultrasound by telling my Dr that this was a fertility treatment, I had more than one follicle release, I'm almost 37 years old and it's taken us 5.5 years for this pregnancy. Luckily she agreed, because had no intention of leaving without that paperwork.

For the diagnostics I'm getting done now, it was because I phoned the dr. office every couple of days to say I was taking hpts and they weren't really getting any lighter, then that I had stopped then started to bleed again, and finally I point blank said I want an ultrasound because some of my pregnancy symptoms seemed to be returning and the tests were actually getting darker not lighter. I just really feel something isn't right. Initially when I phoned just a week after my surgery I was told no to the betas. I pushed and got what I feel I needed and again it's seemingly proving to be correct because there appears to be something not right given my numbers.

I think we really need to be our own advocates and push for what we feel we need. We know our bodies best and at our ages we can't afford any delays getting the treatments that will help us get back to TTC as soon as possible.

I hope all of us on this thread find BFP's soon!

I can sympathize w/ you all about doctors!!! I finally found an OB that I feel like listens to me....the ob w/ my daughter blamed everything on my age & weight & pushed every product the drug rep had a poster for, I switched to a recommended specialist w/ the pregnancy I miscarried..he was cold as ice & barely acknowledged me. With this last chemical/mc I found a doc who works in conjunction w/ a midwife & a doula (he's in my ins network & works out of our chosen hospital PRAISE GOD!) When I got there I was on the defensive and said "I know exactly how old I am, I know exactly how fat I am...nobody knows better than me! and I still want this!"

His response was a very supportive *shrug* & ok, let's do it! (I tested negative by the time I got to his office) I've never felt more welcomed by any doctor!

AFM today: 3dpo and still crampy. Not really reading that as a pg sign but I'm hoping it means the supplements I've been taking have raised my progesterone levels since that's what causes the symptoms at ovulation! To my knowledge I don't have a problem w/ it since my levels were good w/ the mc last Aug (we lost the heartbeat) but I'm sure I could use a little boost!

Cheers to you, my ladies of fine vintage!!!

Me: almost 42 (May) DH: 42 DD: soon to be 3 (also May!) Honeymoon baby conceived at 38, born at 39 08/11 mc 9.5 weeks. Good Morning Fabulous Strong ladies...I am drinking my coffee and reading our threads! Neat gals here joined together with so much in common to support each other!

First, you must take control of your healthcare! Being in the healthcare industry for so many years, there is no other way than directing your own care. If not insisting. Whether it's ttc or any other issues - stay the lead! You are your own advocate.

So keep the focus!!

I will stay positive, and energetic - and look for a tiny miracle again! :)

Baby dust in plenty to each of you!!!
