Sorry Ladies! Been too busy at work. So my appointment with the IVF specialist went well. DH went with me this time so that was good. He is a straight-shooter and he gave us great deal of information about the procedure and also assured us that the new way of IVF reduces the chance of having multiple pregnancy to a great deal! Phew! But I am not going to lie, hearing him say that at my age even IVF cannot be guaranteed to get me pregnant, was depressing. Oh well! Keeping my chin up. Next step is the ultra-sound on Monday provided I get my period before it. They need to examine the "state of the union" down there of my ovaries, follicles and my very very very old eggs (ha!). However the Ultrasound has to happen between CD 1-5. Well I am supposed to get my period today or tomorrow. Weird up until last month when I didn't want the period to come and now I want it so bad to happen so that I can get this ball rolling!!!!

Yes I have used Preseed whenever I need it. Better than using any other lubricant IF you really need it. DH doesn't like it as much, well he doesn't like any lubricant at all. Usually I apply it without even telling him.

sunaet0625 - Very sorry to hear that. My niece has PCOS that hence she doesn't get period very often, maybe every 60 days or so. Have you consulted any doctor about it so far? PCOS is very common.

lneist001 - Yes those cheapos come in handy! Good luck!

Bhopali - Thank you for the update. We are rooting for you and a positive experience. I can't imagine how scary it is to hear those words. You are doing great at keeping up your spirits. You are taking the necessary steps and I'm glad for you because we all know what it is to want to be pregnant and have a healthy child. I pray this works the first time and you are blessed. Who would have thought we would be praying also for AF to arrive. It will all be great!!!

So, I decided to start testing with the CBDA ovulation detector yesterday CD6. It showed Low. I'm glad I tested early because today it showed high. I'm hoping for a peek this time as it didn't happen last time. I'm also going to use those cheap ones. They are supposed to arrive in the mail today but tracking looks more like tomorrow. I'm a little down. Last night was an epic fail between my DH and I as far as intimacy goes. I laughed because it wasn't going well and I didn't know what to do and well you can just about imagine what that did for him. It ended up in a long night of both of us feeling awful. Hopefully that doesn't get in the way of the rest of this fertile time. :( ...

Question how many of you DTD every day vs every other day during your fertile window?

Thanks all for being a great place to talk and supportive. Rooting for everyone.

Hey lneist001 - Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot to me. This is stressful time but feeling fortunate to have this forum! I think it is one thing to get pregnant, whole another thing to make sure you have a healthy pregnancy and most importantly a healthy baby. And with age the odds get stacked against you more and more, especially to get the latter to happen. That's all I worry about the most. If my pregnancy is bit eventful bcoz of my age, well it is only 9 months and it shall pass. But a baby that's not healthy will have an impact of a lifetime! Fortunately in modern IVF procedure, they do extensive screening of sperms, eggs and then the resulting embryos to make sure the best get implanted. I did undergo a genetic screening too and they didn't find any mutations. So that's good!

BTW the "epic fail" can happen to the best of us! Especially during fertile window when you want do t so bad but can't get in the mood! So hang in there. Well we didn't really do DTD every day (I mean that's ideal if you can manage it!). We tried to do every other day. But definitely on peak days! hence it is important to pin point those two days!!! hang in there! Hopefully this cycle you will get your peak!

bhopali
I hear ya on the healthy baby portion. Age does take a tole when it comes to the chances. I'm glad to hear you had some genetic testing and that all looked good. I also like to know that in IVF you are getting the best of the best to help minimize the risks.

Well... I got 2days of high. And then this morning I got my peak ???? As of yesterday I did t know what was going to happen as I saw the highs arrive and DH and I had some good miscommunications that was causing a little bit of a rod However we made up and got in a BD last night which I'm thanskful because I thought over a simple littlele thing we would be out this month. Needless to say that thinking made the whole situation worse for me and he had no clue why. Ha. What we do huh!

I tried one of the cheap opks last night and got a faint line below the control. I guess that's considered a negative because it wasn't as dark as or darker than the control line. But then I got my peak today so it must sense its close. I think our chances are much higher this time just with learning more my body. I hope it works. If not my dr apt is slated for the 17th of feb.

Happy day to you all.

How is everyone in here?...

I'm 4dop today and struggling to not get my hopes up to much. Its still a long road to when one might be able to test. Things this cycle were again different than the last several as far as symptoms, feelings, etc. It's strange.

Hope all are hanging in there. Would love to hear where you all are at. http://www.countdowntopregnancy.com/res/img/forum/emoticons/sticky_vibes.gif

Hello Ladies! If you remember I was waiting for AF to arrive so that I could start my IVF treatment. Well she never did! And I finally tested and voila it was positive. This all happened last Saturday morning, not this past one but one before. I was supposed to go in for my first IVF ultrasound that following Monday. But I had to be on my period and so out of desperation I just took a test with a cheap internet one. It turned positive instantly!!! And I showed it to DH who was brushing his teeth right next to me! And we were both pretty stunned! Then I tested with slightly better brand tests and they all turned positive too. Not gonna lie, I had too much wine to drink the night before and I was slightly hung over! I was feeling so guilty the entire time.

Anyway we had our first ultrasound today and everything is normal. But I am still being cautiously optimistic. Being almost 43 puts me on high risk for MC. So not counting my chickens before the eggs hatch.

If you remember I didn't even get a peak on CBLM this past cycle. The cheapo stick did turn positive one evening and we were BD-ing dutifully around that time. Anyway bcoz of the non-peak cycle and the fact that I had already made up my mind on IVF, I didn't even really pay attention to ANYTHING this past cycle. I never spot-checked symptoms anyway but this was so surreal for me and DH. Just wanted to share this news with you. That miracles do happen even to almost 43-year old lady like yours truly.

I will keep you guys updated. And I wish you all the very best. I am just very nervous and anxious at the moment and hoping things go as they are supposed to.
