Thanks so much Ozlo

Think i'm gonna need it!! Just had appt with my IVF specialist and he is putting us on a LONG cycle (the nurses told me last week they thought I would be on a short one which involves less drugs and is over in 4 weeks) No such luck!!!

Long cycle takes nearly 8 weeks!!! ARG!!!!
Starting me on the pill this week, then a nasel spray to put me into a temporary state of menopause(with all the fun symptoms), then asprin and injectable FSH, antibiotics, cortisone, trigger shot, egg collection, embryo tranfer, followed by eostrogen and progesterone pessaries. This is gonna be one crazy emotional hormonal roller coaster . . . . . . .. watch out DH

Hi there, I just went through my first IVF cycle and had the embryo transfer this past tuesday. I was at first overwhelmed with everything that I had to do but it turned out to be manageable! :) Less then a week before my retrieval my husband had 103.5 fever and the doctors said he had the flu. I was PRAYING I would not get it and I managed to stay healthy, thank goodness. Hang in there during the process, it will be worth it in the end. The first cycle is tough because the doctors don't yet know how your body is going to respond to all of the drugs so even if it does not work the first time don't get discouraged! Good luck to you and baby dust :)

EvelynL, how is your treatment going?

The TTC journey continues for DH and I, unfortunately our IVF treatment was unsuccessful. They collected 6 eggs (only 5 mature), 4 fertilized (ICSI), only 2 made it past 48 hours (and 1 was behind), on day3 they transfered the best embie and the other remaining embryo didn't make it to the next day. The TWW was torture and couldn't guess at symptoms because the progesterone pesseries mimic PG symptoms. Had blood test last week and BFN

We have an appt with FS next week to arrange our next treatment cycle, hopefully we can change some of the meds and for a better result!!

Thank you for asking, it is so nice to have people to talk to who understand how tough this can be at times

I'm sorry, EvelynL. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the adjustment in medications will be the solution. What do you think they should tweak? I'm meeting with my RE in Nov and planning for IVF in Jan. I'm supposed to order the meds online before too long but I want to have some updated bloodwork done to be sure the meds will address my issues. I think I need to do a glucose test too--I think my insulin may be off, which effects fertility.

It's great to have others to talk to about this. :)

Hey ladies, Im just jumping in. Starting IVF within next two months or so but we JUST got started. Hubby has low sperm count and may need to go in for a biopsy to go in and see whats blocking! Anyone had to deal with this? uggghh. Very stressfull but he's been so great. To boot I have high FSH which of course means low ovarian reserve. So IVF is pretty much the way we're headed. So down and stressed, Feels good to share! Will keep you updated! Baby Dust!!!***

Its great to have some mates to share the journey with (not cool that we all have to go through it, but if we have too, its better with friends ) i am meeting with FS to review the cycle next week, but if Dr. Ev can work it out correctly. . I think I may have been over supressed, I responded strongly to the Synarel and only produced 6 eggs. So maybe a short cycle with no down reg?? Or more stims?? will see for a short cycle . . I am sick of all the waiting!!

Constance, its interesting you have to order your own meds, is it cheaper that way?? My clinic provided them to me . . wonder if ordering them is an option here. . . hmm Where do you live? Does glucose affect fertility?? Is that like diabeties?? Sorry for all the questions

Fly, DH and I are in for IVF due to male factor infertility also!! DH didn't have to have a biopsy but he did have an ultrasound, poor bloke did well putting up with strangers playing with his manhood Although I guess we have to suffer alot worse. . . half the time the docs dont recognise me by my face

Try not to stress out, easy to say I know, but the nurses are generally really good. I have one that is assigned to me, and calls me frequently to tell me results and guide me what meds to take and when. It is a tough thing to go through, but one day at a time. . . you will get through the cycle one way or another

Hi Evelyn and flybyrd!

For some reason my doc uses a pharmacy in England and the meds (last yr's prices--I need to look up everything again) were @ $1700. I think this was for 2 kinds of injections--I'll check and update.

Interestingly sugar and carbs do impact insulin, and insulin overproduction can impact fertility. I've been doing a lot of reading and apparently a diet low in sugar and restricted carbs (carbs from natural foods rather than processed) is recommended for some women. I am suspecting that I may be one of these women, since I suffer from endo. So I'm trying to cut way back on sugar, meat, and processed foods. Supposedly all of it creates a hostile uterine environment for egg implantation. Sorry that was so long!

I'm trying to regain my discipline to eat healthy-I was successful from CD1-8DPO then I felt like I wasn't pregnant and gave up. I'll do better next cycle. :)
