Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences with me. It's all just so overwhelming, when there are so many different things that could be the problem.
Like I said, still holding out hope that I'm not out this month, but if no good news this time, we will be looking for a doctor. My husband just turned 50, so we can't really afford to waste anymore time without knowing what's going on.
wilsonc - i'm sorry the arrived :(.

Hi ladies,
I hope you don't mind me jumping in. DH and I have been TTC for two years. It has been two and a half years since we lost our DD at 16 weeks 3 days. I have endo and had surgery for it last June along with an HSG. Tubes looked clear and they got a lot of scar tissue out with the surgery. We have been ttc naturally since then. If we do not get our BFP by September we will go in and see an RE, and see what our options are. Good luck and Baby dust to everyone!

Welcome izzystout! Sorry to hear of your troubles. We are all hear to help!
Ugh for KLS2010! I hope for better days ahead!
redshadoe0 what reason did they give for putting you on metformin ? They suspect I have PCOS too but won't put me on metformin cause I don't have enough "symtpoms".
AFM I am waiting on ! 99% sure she will come as she is always prompt!

KLS2010 -I am in the same boat came on Sunday!!
izzystout - Sorry for your loss. and I hope you get your BFP ASAP!!
dolphin1204-
AFM- I am hanging in there but, it is really hard not to feel as if you are broken. My DH and I are thinking about starting IVF in March but until then, just hoping and praying that acupuncture will help us get a BFP before then!! My acupuncturist says that anyone that tries acupuncture has to try it for at least 6 months because after that time she sees many women falling pregnant. This is due to better eggs and lining.
to all!!

Thanks ladies, trying to keep my chin up and not let it get to me.
Sorry mela0054... I know how you feel :(
So now I have a couple of other questions, since you ladies are all way ahead of me in this process, so here we go...
1. How do I get started with a doctor? I'm not sure where everyone is from, but I'm in the US. But I'm from another country originally, and things may be different here. Back home, you would start by going to your regular doctor, then they would refer you to a reproductive specialist. Is that how things work here? Should we go to our (not very) regular doctor first - would they know how to do a fertility work-up (blood tests etc)? Or should (or can) we start looking for a specialist and do through everything with them?
2. Can anyone give me an idea of general costs? We don't have insurance, so we are going to have to find a way to pay for all this, so if anyone can give me a general point of reference on costs, it will help us start planning for them.
3. I'm thinking we might start using Pre-seed this month. Have any of you used this? Thoughts, comments, opinions? I've read it has helped alot of people get their BFP, but I have also seen a few comments where people were concerned that it affords lower quality sperm easier access, and so resulting pregnancies may be less viable.
4. I'm also going to start using OPKs this month. First time using them so any tips, comments, etc would be helpful. The ones I bought are just the basic test strips, not digital. The instructions say to start testing the day after period ends, does this sound right? I would have thought that this would be way too early (maybe not for women with a short cycle, but I have a 28/29 day cycle).
Sorry all for another long post. Any and all helo is very much appreciated!!!

Dolphin - Originally my primary doc refused to put me on Metformin because I'm not insulin resistant. When I finally got to the infertility specialist I asked again about it because all the studies I've read show that women with PCOS have lower m/c rates while on metformin and it helps regulate hormones (thereby regulating a period THANK GOD). SO the specialist let me have the Metformin. He said he can't push the meds but if someone asks about it, he personally thinks it's worth a shot. It's not gonna HURT. Now I've got PCOS but not a bad case of it... I'm not overweight (well, maybe 10 lbs), I don't have excess hair, non of the physical signs EXCEPT my ovaries have the "string of pearls" thing goin on. My hormone tests show elevated testosterone but not excessive.
So my advice is keep pushing or see if you can change doc's. This new doc I've got has been phenomenal... Has not told me NO yet. He might offer a different solution, but so far if I'm intent on trying something and he doesn't think it's gonna hurt, he lets me try. So much better than being told NO and to "just trust me".
