IUI

It has been a tough two weeks. The euphoria of getting a positive digital pregnancy test to the crashing emotional fall when I saw the two lines fade and knew it was all over. Blood test on the Monday showed an hcg level of 9 progesterone 25. By the Thursday it was 1. And then I started bleeding. Nothing like i've experienced before. Extremely heavy - not what I expected for such an early pregnancy loss. Made it all a lot harder. But we had to make a decision with this cycle pretty quick as we had been waiting to start our IUI. I had to book a baseline scan on day 2, so we decided to go for it!

I'm hoping what i've read everywhere that you are more fertile after a loss will help us conceive again. I knew we couldn't do it in September as we are away during crutial weeks. I feel emotionally ready to try, so £1250 lighter we have started.

Baseline scan on day 2 looked good. Started Letrozole for 5 days which I finished yesterday. Side effects so far is very swollen feet. Second scan booked for CD9. OPKs not positive yet (CD7) so I'm hoping they don't turn positive before Friday to give my follicles time to grow a bit.

Based on how they look will depend on when the IUI is scheduled for. Fingers crossed for early next week.

AND I've made a big resolve and promise to myself. I WILL NOT TEST EARLY! The only test I'm going to have is the blood test at the end if my AF hasn't turned up. And only then will I used a pregnancy test just to see those two lines. I've packed all my stockpiled tests away so I'm not tempted. I do not want to know if I'm pregnant just to lose it again. xxx

@lissa we did BD on Saturday night so we may have caught the egg that has ovulated already so I'm pleased with my decision to go ahead. We've abstained since then so not to jeopardise the iui today, but plan to BD tonight and tomorrow if we can.

@lalou thank you.

I had acupuncture last night as it's recommended before the treatment to help success. It's been a stressful two weeks since my loss and I don't know if it's going to work. To be honest I'm not feeling that excited just a bit worn out. I don't know how people do IVF over and over. This is hard. This is now my 3rd assisted cycle but first iui. We said 3 was the limit.

Hubby asked me when we are going to stop trying. I don't have an answer. I'm 44 in April so maybe that should be our cut off . But maybe I'll feel different in 2 weeks time. I don't want to test out my trigger. I don't want to pee on any more sticks. I would like to think I can be strong enough to wait for the blood test.

Also we go on holiday on the 21st so hubby said I'll be depressed if we are not pregnant and that's not fair on our daughter. I said I promise I won't. I'll have two days to pull myself together if it fails and just enjoy what we have as a family.

Sorry for rambling but I just don't know how much more of this I can do. This is our 11th month of trying. I can't believe how long a struggle this has become.

Hubby is on route to the clinic already. I'm chilling out for a few hours before I have to catch the bus and tube into Harley Street, and enjoying my only coffee of the day! xxx

It's all done! Eeeek! I arrived at 11am and was shown down to a very smart waiting room. We were there for ages then I asked what was the hold up, and the receptionist had forgotten to tick me off

Anyway they finally showed me through, and the nurse gave me the report on the sperm post wash. 80% concentration, 80% motility, 3+4 Progression and 40 million sperm! Yay!

I popped on a gown and my best friend came with me to the treatment room. I put my legs in the stirrup and they inserted a speculum like when they do a smear test. They use some saline to just wash the area then inserted the catheter with the sperm. The speculum was very uncomfortable, the catheter wasn't very pleasant. The nurse told us when to make a wish then she inserted it

Then I closed my legs and lay there for 5 mins before I went back to the recovery bed, and I lay there for a further 15 mins with the bed raised at an angle. The nurse came back with my Progesterone, which I need to do 3 times a day from tomorrow. Different to what I used before and cost me £70 (how much more money )

I have a Progesterone blood test on the 11th and a Pregnancy blood test on the 19th!

The nurse said I could do a normal test at home but the package I paid for includes a blood test so I'm going to have it!

I was given some notes on what to do and not do during the TWW. Pretty much everything I know already but I think I'll avoid swimming and they say refrain from heavy lifting. Make sure to eat well, no alcohol or caffeine. I only have 1 small cup a day so I think that's OK.

And that's it! The waiting has begun! We hope to BD tonight and tomorrow if we can just to increase our odds some more. I had ovulation pains on both sides so hopefully both were released with good eggs. We've done everything we can now. We just have to hope and pray we have caught an egg and the chromosomes are OK. xx

I'm 6dpo 7dpiui and I have zero symptoms. Nothing

Right now I feel like the iui has failed

I also don't want the disappointment of having the blood test next Thursday morning to be called and told it failed. I don’t think I could handle it. Maybe I should test the day before?? xx
