Father’s Day after loss this week

We lost our baby on Tuesday early on in the pregnancy (9 weeks ish). It’s fathers day in the uk this Sunday and it would have been my partners first one. What do I do? Give him a gift/ card? Ignore the day and pretend it’s not happening? I can’t ask him what he’d prefer as he’s not able emotionally to talk about it. Suggestions anyone?

I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand your dilemma. A card or anything that says Happy Father’s Day doesn’t seem appropriate because I’m sure both of you don’t feel like this is a happy time in any way (I just went through it 2 months ago...). But ignoring the day doesn’t seem right either. Maybe a « homemade » card with your own words or even just a letter. And something that would show him you care like his favorite breakfast in bed or baking his favorite dessert...etc. I hope you both find peace in the weeks to come. I know how hard of a time this is.
