It could be a chemical pregnancy or a bad test, however the likelihood of a false positive is very slim - unless you've used Walgreens test, in which case they're throwing out false positives everywhere.

Thanks for replying. I used the normal clear blue test not the early one. I think I’ll wait until the weekend to see if I get a period
