Middle names.

Do you think it is better to ask for permission before using someone’s middle name as your child’s middle name or is something like that better left as a pleasant surprise. (It’s my sisters middle name I’m thinking of using...in the future).

We used my DH sister’s first name as my daughter’s middle name and my husband did give her a call to make sure she was ok with it but if it had been her middle name I don’t think we would have necessarily asked. Most people don’t really use their middle name much so I personally don’t think it’s a big deal.
