Question

Low levels

So I found out yesterday we are expecting our second child. I told my husband in the doctors office parking lot while waiting to check in for our confirmation. I tried to tell them that I didn’t think it was going to be accurate going by my last period because my cycle was irregular this month and last, but they nodded and said I should be about six weeks (eye roll). They wheel in the ultrasound and I did get excited, I work as a veterinary technician and I’m not great at interpreting ultrasound, but I can see enough to note that my uterine wall was thickened, my bladder empty, and there isn’t a sac. My heart drops and the doctor goes to find a technician and they all come back and try again. The technician scans around and noted the cyst on my left ovary that I’ve already known about and then she stops and says that that may be corpus luteum or it’s ectopic. Any way, my blood work that they took is consistent with being less than 6 weeks as I suspected, but they are only at 53?. I’m supposed to go back in four days and they want those numbers tripled. I’ve also had a miscarriage before so I’m also worried of those numbers dropping. Is there anyone else out there like me? Any advice to keep me sane over the weekend? Any would be appreciated.

Is it possible you're way off about your cycle? I would say a level of 53 is more in line with right when you've missed your period or just before. I am hoping your irregular cycle has made the math way off. If you are miscarrying I would also say that with a current level of 53 you would know quite soon if you are losing the baby as I would expect you would start bleeding rather soon? I am hoping for the best for you! I have had 6 losses myself so completely understand how agonizing being in limbo is. :(

The app I have predicted that it would start Sunday the 30th. Which supports my luetal phase after my positive opk on the 16 th. The only reason I tested early was because I started antibiotics and I wanted to make sure before I continued taking them. So far I’m a bit more tired, cramping on and off, and a bit nauseated.

Sounds like you are only 10 or 11 dpo which means you could have implanted only a day or 2 ago and your levels would be normal. I think it is pretty normal to not detect a sac with ultrasound until levels are closer to 1500. your levels go up and the next ultrasound shows a viable pregnancy soon

I’m supposed to start today. I had light pink spotting this morning. I’m trying not to freak out because I did have this with both pregnancies, but I was also cramping quite a bit yesterday.

So my levels from my draw on Monday went from 53 to 406 ( over the course of 4 days), I went for another draw yesterday and the results are still pending. I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss cumulative findings and I think they want to do a transvaginal ultrasound. I’m still hopeful, my boobs have veins everywhere and are sore. I eat everything in sight and want to sleep. Still no morning sickness so far, but it can stay away lol.

We are doing well. 16 weeks and a day. I have a doctors appointment in two weeks and our anatomy scan coming up after that. I already look like like I’m sooooo much further along lol.
