Question

Positive OPK, 7DPO?

I had an iui on the 6th, positive OPK on the 6th and 7th. 7DPO today. Thought I'd get my period yesterday due to a light brown spot and some cramping but didn't. Pregnancy test was negative today but the OPK - which I for some reason decided to try - was positive like right after I peed on it, without having to wait. Have I ovulated twice this month or can I be expecting a BFP? If I ovulated twice, could there have been sperm left from the IUI to meet the new egg? What can a positive OPK mean?

You can have multiple LH surges in a month. If you have calculated that O occured with temping and CM then this is probably just another surge. If not, sperm can live for about 5 days in the cervix, so maybe longer in the uterus, although I'm not sure of the science on that.

I tracked every day with an OPKs for several cycles. I surge about one week after confirmed ovulation and sometimes even a third the week of AF.

An OPK can pick up hcg, but to be truly dark and to show as positive on an OPK, the level of hcg has to be fairly high. Each time I tested on an OPK just to see, after I was confirmed pregnant, it took until about 1 week past BFP before the OPK looked dark and positive.

I hope this helps, good luck!!
