Last Round of Clomid. HCG Shot. Cycle Buddies??

I am on my last round of Clomid, and things are... interesting...

I went to my dr today for an ultrasound to see how far my follicles have dilated (my dr is looking for 1.8cm). Curiously enough, he found two eggs cysts (right at 1.5 and left at 1.2). My DB and I decided to go through with the HCG injection since we have been trying (since last year), but to no avail. So, my dr. wants me to come back for another ultrasound Wednesday morning and if one of follicles is 1.8cm dilated he will administer the HCG shot... However, if the they are both at that size, as he puts it, my chance to have twins "is not insignificant." I'm kind of excited about the idea actually :)

SO - I guess if I get the shot on Wednesday, I will ovulate on Thursday 5/23. Any I am certainly welcoming any cycle buddies :)

Also, if you have any questions about Clomid, and have any information about the HCG shot, I'd love to chat!

Best wished to everyone!

Welcome jandbaby2012!!! Welcome back DREE! So happy to see you back.

Jandbaby2012, it sounds like you are finally on the path to that bfp! I remember when we first started seeing a specialist and was put on clomid, I felt such a huge relief. It seemed like it was in their hands, rather than us trying to rack our brains to see if there was something we hadn't tried. I'm sorry to hear about your blood disorders and your PCOS. It's awful to hear news that will make this process harder. But, knowing what's wrong is the first step in fixing it! For me, we have what's called 'unexplained infertility' which affect 50% of infertility couples. Apparently, there's nothing 'wrong' with either of us, so after all those tests there is no answer. It's frustrating, but I'm thankful I get to go down the path anyway, and that health insurance is covering it.

DREE! I'm so glad to see you hear, but I'm sad to know you are hurting so much. That seems like a cruel trick after everything you've been through. I guess my only advice is to try to trust the specialists. It's so hard when it seems like they're just delaying things. But I'm sure they're working to get you pregnant as fast as possible. And if it were them or us, I get the sense they're better at it than we are ;). Like missy said, we're here for you no matter what you want to post...good or bad! xoxo

As for me, I'm entering that hell week before I test. Part of me is so hopeful and I walk around thinking that I'm carrying my poppoyseed everywhere, but then I remember the numbers. 90% chance is didn't work. So high, that my doctor actually didn't recommend we do IUI with clomid, but wait until injections. We did it as a last ditch attempt to do something different before the injections.

I guess I have to take four shots a day, not one. I'm miserable and anxious and scared and grateful and angry all at the same time. This negative on sunday is going to mean so many changes for me and I'm feeling so overwhelmed by it. It's a weird feeling, because I'm so grateful I have this process available to me, and I can't imagine how nutso I'd be if it wasn't an option, but I still get upset thinking about having to go down that path.

So, Mis, you arleady know this, but work for me is baby hell. This is just a tiny tidbit of what happened to me at work in the first 48 hours:

-welcome back speech announcing all the births to our school 'family' with pictures and descriptions of the expanded daycare
-a woman complaining about how she's pregnant with her third boy, she says "My husband has failed me. He's failed to give me a girl. I'm quitting and not happy about this predicament." I said, "You should be thankful for what you have." and She looked at me and said, "Yeah, grateful? I'm waiting for that feeling to kick in."
-Then, the girl who's made me feel the worst about this whole thing (colleague in same office whose part time because she has a baby-and breast feeds in my office, i will add) came in and when I told her I had a bad day yesterday because all the babies were in my face (hint hint) she said, "Have you tried stopping drinking?" REALLY?!?
-Oh, and the daycare has moved so it's under our office. We can hear the babies screaming through the heater vent instead of a first grade class...

It is such an unhealthy work environment for me. UG.

Mis, so glad you got your big dip and spike. Has it stayed up?

xo to all!

Hello Ladies,
My name is Jill by the way! It's so nice to meet you all!!!
Well I did test on Sunday and it was a BFN :( It was only 8 DPO so it was still really early but it was a significant day and I felt like maybe fate would be on our side.
But all in all I think I am out this month anyway!:( I started spotting yesterday and that is a pretty good indicator for me that the will be here soon!! I think I'm going to tt my dr about increasing my dose of clomid this next cycle instead of waiting another month (I'm only on 50mg).
Court - I'm so sorry to hear about ur work situation! People who have never experienced infertility do not understand how difficult it is!!! We put ourselves through so much emotionally, financially and physically that they could never even imagine!! And unlike ur co-worker who doesn't appriacate her 3rd boy - I know u will be thankful for whatever God gives u when u get ur !!!! Hope this UIU worked!!
Missy - I'm sorry about ur O :( That really stinks. I have annovulatory cycles myslef and I know how frustrating that can be. I see that u got ur insurance coverage - when do u start the next step?? Are u going to be doing shots, IUI, IVF??? Hopefully u get to start soon!
to all!!!

Well Ladies, the showed up yesterday. i'm trying to stay postive though. I keep telling myself - I have a plan it's just going to take some time. I have a call in to my Dr about upping my clomoid dose to 100mg this month instead of staying with 50mg for another month. We're also planning on doing an ultrasound on CD 12 to check my follicle size. That should give us more info has to how well the clomid is working. Thinking about making an appt with a specialist now - I heard it takes months to get in for your first appt.
How are the rest of you ladies doing? Have you tested yet Cort?? Hope you have good news!!
to all!!!

Jill, sorry to hear af got you. Was this your first round on clomid? I just finished my 5th round of 100mg of clomid. I went last Thursday for an ultrasound to check my follicle size and had a great size follicle on each side. The nurse gave me an HCG injection to induce ovulation. So hopefully something will happen this month.

I need to figure out the charting on this site. I've been using fertility friend for a few months.

I hope everyone will soon get some good news!

Sara - this was my first cycle on clomid after ttc for about 1 year. I have PCOS so my dr put me on metformin first and started clomid last month 50 mg CD4-9, then 1 mg estrogen CD 10-15 and the 100 mg preogesterone after O. I really got my hopes up. Hopefully this month is better. My dr didn't think we needed to do an ultrasound on the first month. I ovulate regularly on Cd 16-17 on my own but my follicle size was only 7 mm on O day!!! We are going to to the ultrasound this month on CD 12-14 possibly both.
I am wondering about this HCG shot everyone is talking about to trigger O. I had an annovualtory cycle in July and am not sure I O'd this past month even with cloomid. I had a postiive OPK on CD 15 in the am but neg in the pm. I had some EWCM starting in the eveing on CD 14 but was gone by afternoon on CD 16. I had a good temp spike but it only lasted one day and then I started the progesterone so I couldn't tell if my temps were up due to O or the progesterone???
Is it just one shot or are there several? What CD was your ultrasound and shot? How many DPO are you now? that you get good news soon!!!

Jill - My ultrasound and shot were on CD12. I took clomid on CD 3-7. It was only one shot, but I have seen other people take 3 or 4 shots in a cylce, so I'm not sure what exactly the multiple shots pertain to. I am certain that I ovulated on CD14, which would put me 2 DPO.

Good luck to you this cycle.

Hey ladies,

Well, bad news for me. The ugly, disgusting AF showed up. That's it. That was my last ditch effort to do this without intensive intervention. I am grateful we live in an age when this can happen for us, and even more grateful my insurance is covering things, but I am just so utterly depressed this is happening to me.

I feel so sad, selfishly, that I have to go through this painful, chemical, sterile process to try to create human life. Why do I get so stuck on that? I shouldn't care...I JUST WANT A BABY! It really doesn't matter how you get it...I guess I'm just scared of the shots, and upset about the weight gain and upcoming emotional rollercoaster.

Sorry for the downer post. Just thought I'd check in and let you all know what was going on.

No time to really sulk, though I want to stay in bed, baseline ultrasound is tomorrow and injections start wed.

Wishing you all a better day than I've had!

Hey ladies!

Jill, I am glad you are with us and trying to stay positive. Your dr will probably want to monitor you more on Clomid before increasing the dose. They worry about overstimulating your ovaries and increasing the chance of mulitples. I was increased to 100mg from 50mg after my first Clomid cycle was annovulatory.

I did eventually get my smiley face this cycle on CD19... but I only had a slight temp increase and my temps have not been great. It plummeted BIG TIME this morning, so if I don't see a dramatic change tomorrow - I know I'm out.

On a positive (kind of) note, my boyfriend and I have an appt this Friday at a specialists office. YAY! It has been an interesting road to try and get this scheduled, so I am glad. I've been really down the past few days (pretty sure it is PMS) and he actually mentioned the appt, and that I should be happy I have that to look forward to -- yall have no idea how unexpected and wonderful it is for him to talk about us going in a positive way.

Sarah, I did the HCG injection as well on my 5th cycle of Clomid. It was the one vial of HCG, but one shot in each arm and each butt cheek. I hope it works for you! I was so excited with the injection. It is great that there are all these things to try to give us renewed hope!

I've been charting consistently on this site and FF -- I flip-flop on which one I like more, but FF is at least giving me a coverline and an O date -- my temps have been so all over the place that this site just has a chart with no lines at all. Plus, I really like the feature on FF to look and compare similar charts; even though, there are no similar charts to mine that end in a bfp (and it's been that way for several days). Charting has been the best and the worst thing, but I like it because your temp is what it is -- It beats the months I've spent dreaming up imaginary symptoms.

:( I'm sorry about your AF, Court, but glad that you are ready and have the means to move to that next step. We all have to keep climbing, even when we get tired or scared... those steps take us where we want to go.

Keep climbing, ladies!

Hey Ladies,
Court - Sorry to here about your af. I know how frustrating it is. I pray you get your with the shots!!! Maybe you'll be lucky and get twins!!!! A good friend of mine had to use the shots after ttc for over 2 years. It still took 8 months on the shots (they increased the dose slowly because the risk of multiples is high) but she gave birth to a healthy set of twins in May - a boy and a girl!!!
Missy - You were right about my dr not increasing my dose of clomid this month. He wants to do the ultrasound on CD 13 to check follicle size first. Okay I can understand this - it's logical - but it is still sooo frustrating!!!!With all these meds he has me on I'm not even sure I O'd last month!!! Now we get to do the same thing this month we did last month AND IT DID NOT WORK!!!!! To top it off he doesn't even have an ultrasound in his office - I have to go the hospital with a script so I want found out for at least a week what my results even were!! I think I'm going to give it this month and maybe one more and then I'm going to see a specialist. My OB has a good plan but he doesn't monitor well - no ultrasound the first month, no lab draws to check progesterone. I don't want to waste the 6 cycles I have on clomid doing the same thing over and over if we already know it didn't work last month!!!
Also Missy - keep us updated on how your appt on Friday goes!!!
to all!!!
