Question

Lactating?

I'm 6dpo, I have one daughter. She weaned at 11 1/2 months. I've tried squeezing any milk out several times in the time between wean and a month ago. The left was dry and the right only gave small droplets of clear/translucent liquid. NOW-- in the shower today the left is giving opaque milky droplets and the right is giving even more of the same. Is there something else going on? Could I indeed be pregnant?

I had heavy leakage out of one breast when my son was about five and was never breast fed. I think hormones can cause this but I never had it checked and was not pregnant.

I have not nursed or anything since my son was a month old (he's 3 now) and I remember one night two years ago I was laying in bed without a bra on (I had also JUST started dating my boyfriend) and I noticed my shirt was wet. I looked down and it was SOAKED in the breast area. I squeezed some out and it was colostrum. I went to the doctor the very next day because I was freaking out about being pregnant again and he said it was just hormones. Certain medications can cause it (mine was the birth control patch). Since then, whenever I was on the patch I lactated and even did for a small amount of time when I was on Seasonique this past year. Lactation is very normal. :-)

My lactation consultant said some women can lactate 5, 10, even 15 years after they stop breastfeeding. Which is pretty freaky.
