Question

Short luteal phase :(

PLEASE HELP!!! I have a very short luteal phase of just 8 days. The GP says there is nothing they can do and I've seen two different ones. I've tried B6, evening Primrose Oil, Vitex and progesterone cream and its still 8 days. Any other suggestions gratefully received. I'm sooo frustrated :( tks

I did a quick search because you've tried everything I would have suggested. Have you asked an obgyn? I saw that you can take progesterone in pill form called prometrium. Its worth a shot :) and I also read that you need to take a lot more B6 for it to effect the phase just wasn't sure how much you were taking. Hope this helps or gives you an idea!!

Hi, I didn't know about the progesterone pill so will look that up, thanks. I am only taking 2mg B6 tablets a day so can I up the dose do you think. My GPs are not interested in short LP as they are in America, they don't see it as a problem but thank u so much for your advise, I will do some more research!!! X

Yeah I was just reading where the lady was taking 140mg of B6. I'm pretty sure the b vitamins really can't do harm your body just expels it in urine so maybe try upping your B6 a lot lol and see if that will help you more. That sucks because that truly can be a serious issue for conception :(

I cant believe the dr never gave you Progesterone pill, and the fact they don't seem that bothered about it, I have read that pill has helped a lot of people, to sustain a pregnancy.

I jhave read the same thing but all in America, I'm not sure its even available in the UK. Does anyone know if it is?? I have mentioned it to the GP but she totally dismissed it saying there is no proof it works so I would be really interested to see if any UK Gp's have prescribed it.

I'm shock by this. Usually you ladies in the UK seem to have it easier when it comes to conception aids Here in the US we have to, well most of us, pay out of pocket for reproductive issues and have to beg to medicines. Is it a possibiltiy to try and get a second opinion? I just can't see a doctor not taking something like that a little more seriously!

I know but I wonder if it wasn't free then maybe they would be more inclined to help me. So then maybe I should think about seeing a specialist and paying for treatment. Unfair really but perhaps worth thinking about as I'm sure if I pay then maybe I would get the help

It sucks but it may not be that bad maybe just the initial visit and check ups to test the levels of progesterone. It really isn't when us ladies have a legitimate physiological problem preventing conception :( I have pcos and its a real bummer too so I know how you feel.
