Question

How long is an LH surge?

Hello,

I should have asked this with my last question but I have heard people talk about having short or long LH surges when it comes to OPK's but I am not sure what this means?

How long is long and how short is short?

Ultimately what is the impact of having a short or long surge?

The impact of having a short surge is that you could miss it if you're using opks to time ovulation. And with a long surge, again when using opks, you don't know if you're getting the positive at the beginning of the surge or at the end. As far as ovulation itself is concerned, as far as I know your body just needs to hit the peak level it needs to trigger ovulation, but I don't know if the length of the surge plays any or how much of a role here.

In general terms, I think a 24 hour surge is average.
