Question

How fertile are you after a miscarriage?

I just had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago, stopped bleeding a week ago (june 4). I've been having unprotected sex about 5 times now. Not purposely. Haven't had a normal cycle yet. Ive had 3 miscarriages so I wouldn't want to end up pregnant before I go see a specialist. Therefore, I was wondering how fertile I can be after I've had a miscarriage???? Plz help. I don't want to get pregnant like this and worry its not a good time

From what I understand you are VERY fertile for up to 3 months after a m/c. Your body is already geared for pregnancy so it's easier to get pregnant. That being said, not all women do. I was very lucky in that I had a m/c at 13 weeks on March 22nd. We got a BFP my first cycle after the m/c and I am now 7 weeks pregnant. My doctor says everything looks great. There is no greater risk for this pregnancy than if we had waited longer. Just try to give your body and mind time to heal and yourself time to grieve and you should be just fine. You will know when you are ready to try again. I am so very sorry for your loss and wish you tons of baby dust.

PS: I got my first AF exactly 2 weeks after my hcg levels hit zero. It was 8 days of spotting with VERY light bright red flow. I counted the first day I saw any red flow as CD 1.

When I miscarried, it took me about 3 months to have a reg cycle again. My husband and I tried multiple times right after but it was recommended that you wait a couple of normal cycles. Wishing you the best and my prayers go up for you. You should probably give your body a rest from Baby Dancing, it needs time to rejuvenate :)

Yes, I've heard people say that you're fertile after a miscarriage, but I think it varies greatly. To be fertile, you have to be ovulating. If you have any hcg left in your system, you probably won't be ovulating. It took 3+ months for my HCG levels to go down to "0" (and way too many blood draws!). It's been 6 months now, and I've had only 2 highly-irregular periods since the miscarriage. I was told by my doctor to wait for 2 normal periods in a row and then to try to conceive, since you know then that your body is really ready. I know that everyone is different, but as others have said, your body has to recuperate and rebuild your uterine lining, so it might be unlikely that you would get pregnant so fast (though not impossible, from some stories I've read!). As you said, you also may not be emotionally ready to deal with another possible loss. Take care of yourself, use condoms until you're really ready and I wish you the best!

Iv had 3 miscarriages this year at 6 weeks and just 10 weeks ago and fell pregnant straight away and bean is doing well seen heartbeat and everything so iv finally relaxed but the advice I got off my doctor was as soon as I found out I was pregnant not to have sex because of miscarriage because sperm is an acid it can open ur cervix so a lil advice for next time you get pregnant

I think your chances are technically the same, but I've also heard that you can be more fertile following a m/c because your body is already geared up for pregnancy at that point. (And some ladies will find themselves pregnant again before they've even had AF again).

Have you set up your appointment with the specialist yet? I don't blame you for wanting to see one since you have suffered 3 losses.
