Question

Iodine pills?

Today I am 5w6d pregnant and went to the doctor yesterday who has referred me to a midwife (in NZ you have the choice of midwife or specialist) and also put me on folic acid and iodine tablets.

Has anyone else heard of the iodine tablets before?

Being deficient of iodine can cause mental retardation in a baby. Most people do not get adequate amounts in the diet because it is largely found only in iodized salt & you would need ungodly amounts. It is a helpful supplement.
