Past Ectopic, now a BFP, and scared!

Category: Miscarriage & Loss
Posted by akn410 » Apr. 3, 2012 8:18am

I had an ectopic in June 2011, my tube was saved, but still a tramatic experience. I just recently had a BFP and I am scared to death it's happening again. I feel twinges and pulls and aches, and I am worried it's the same feeling, but I'm not sure....has anybody else experienced this?????

Haven't been pregnant yet but wanted to say best wishes and you'll be in my prayers!! Trust that everything will go well for you this time.. you deserve a beautiful baby! And those feelings sound natural, from what i've heard and read!! :)

if you have had an ectopic before you shyould be classed as a high risk preg so put forward for early scans.

I had ectopic in Nov 11 and lost my tube and this cycle was getting really light bleed/spotting just like I did last time so doc gave me the form for a blood test (quantative) but the next morning I got heavy red flow so happy that I'm not this time

but if you are worried, get to your doc, ask for a quantative hcg test and get another one done 24 -48 hours later and see how much the levels have gone up as this can indicate problems.

you should also be getting at least a 6 week scan but see if you can request one at 5 weeks if you are still that early but just ask for it to be an internal scan. They should be able to locate the yolk sac even if they cant see the egg at that stage. if the sac is in your uterus you should be ok but if its in the tube then they can take action straight away.

I found out i was preg at 4 weeks and lost it at 5 weeks after bleeding and cramping started. i assumed it was just a miscarriage but when the pain got worse i was told to go to emergency. they couldnt see anything from an external scan but found the sac using an internal scan and i was in surgery a few hours later.

it sucks that you cant be happy about being preg again but take action and find a doctor who supports your way of thinking, because if you are just being hysterical, it will alleviate your fears (I would be exactly the same right now!!) but if you are feeling the same as the last ectopic, its giving thempleny of notice so they can take immediate action.

dont sit there and worry yourself sick, get the doctor to do something.

but fingers crossed it is just you overreacting!!!

Thank you for the well wishes, and I'm sure you're right, I'm just paranoid, I have turned it all over to God, and I'm just not going to worry!!

Krunchie29: I had a HCG test done Monday and at 4wks2days I was at 192, I having another test done today to make sure it is doubling. I have an appt on the 20th of April for an U/S and an appt with my dr. I'm also having some aches/pains on the left side as well. I'm just trying not to worry about it and hope for the best, it's just really hard when you've had bad experiences. This is my 6th pregnancy and I have a son that will be 8 in June, it's been a looooong road!

My OB is great, anytime I ask or call she's always quick to respond and pretty much give me what I ask for, as well as being proactive. I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well, it's never fun, and makes you so gun shy, but I guess when all does go well you'll just cherish it that much more!!!

I'll keep you all posted on what goes on!!!

Thanks for posting akn410... and thanks so much for your helpful feedback krunchie29!

I don't have any advice to give, but I do have loads of encouragement.

I have also been going through the same trauma after an ectopic in January (they saved the tube) and am comforted that I'm not alone. I haven't fallen pregnant yet because my man left the week after to Afghanistan. Buuuuut.... I am deathly scared of falling pregnant again now. I have been trying to imagine being pregnant all over again, and I simply can't. Maybe it's my subconscious blocking it out?

You are an amazingly strong woman! Yes, you are now in the higher risk group of it happening again... but that doesn't mean it will. krunchie 29 is right... stay on top of it and act quickly.

Please let us know how it goes... fingers and toes are crossed for you!
