Specialist called a little bit ago and they do have a female doctor. First appointment they had to fit our schedule was April 27th, a whole month a way but it's SET and at least they will have all my tests prior to the visit.

Haha....get my husband to de-stress?!!!!! He's a workaholic for starters, works a commission based job (GM at auto dealership) he leaves about 5 am to go to the gym, starts work at 7:30 in the morning......earliest and I do mean earliest he gets home is 8 pm but usually more between 9-10 and that's Monday-Saturday. Time for massages and acupuncture is not in the schedule lol I know some people think it might be wrong with us trying to bring a child into this world with his long hours but we make our life work. I stay home now, and if anything we could somewhat live off bakers hours lol.

Ok, sorta of topic but figured everyone always needs a good laugh.

I've always wanted a natural home birth, and as I've gotten older and researched over the years REALLLLY wanted to have a water birth. Well, I'm in a smaller city and midwives and such are almost non-existent. The closest birthing center besides the actual hospital is one hour away. Recently a couple midwives started offering this service local and are hosting a Q&A event this Sunday. These events are never offered. I figured I would have a battle with my husband about this since he's a worrier and figured he wouldn't feel comfortable so I thought this event would be good for us to go to so he could get some facts. So I decided to bring it up last night.

Here's our conversation:

Me: hey honey, I have an odd question for you

DH: you've had a lot of those lately

Me: how would you feel about a home water birth?

DH: a what?

Me: a home water birth. Instead of going to the hospital to give birth you give birth at home. If it's a regular home birth you can give birth wherever you want. Bed, couch, heck even the floor if you wanted to. A water birth can either be in a tub, or they have special birthing tubs that look similar to portable hot tubs.

DH: "silence"........... UHHHHHHHH........NOOOOO

Me: ohhhhhh, ok (obviously looking disappointed that there was no discussion)

DH: What? Do you expect me to do this on my own? -"ok honey pushhhhh" and I'll catch it?

Me: (LMAO) NO!!!!!! A midwife (dr) comes to our house and handles it and helps me. She'll bring any supplies needed and others she'll tell us where to get it

DH: oh, ok. Ya that's fine. Whatever you want.

Me: oh, ok, thought there would be a little battle since you don't have any info and thought if so this upcoming class would be good for your questions, but obviously your fine and trust me

My poor husband thought I was just going to wing it, give birth at our house, and make him help. At least this conversation made me realize if the time comes he knows it should be "whatever makes me comfortable " lol

Ohhhhhhh.......men lol

Lol! That's super funny! I think us ladies do throw some odd things their way though haha! I think a water birth looks awesome. I didn't do that withy first because I had to be induced. Hopeing that when we get pregnant again I can have a natural birth too! My siste inlaws all had midwives and at home births. (Little babies!)

Update: No AF. No BFP(dollar storeEPT)Feeling very pms-ish.

thedirtybirdsoaps- YAY for an appt. all set with specialist... wouldn't it be sooooo ironic and super cool at the same time if you guys got pregnant this cycle BEFORE you went!!!
Also LOL on your convo with dh! hilarious and I do agree with comeonbaby that we throw some random things their way sometimes and they have NO CLUE what we are actually talking about!!!
My hat's off to you ladies doing natural, I can't do the pain! I'm sure if I had my mind all set and was so gun ho that I could probably do it but I prefer the pain free route with the epidural!!

Comeonbaby- so you're 14DPO today with no AF... that is awesome!! The fact that you're not getting a positive, I can see how it can be concerning but some women just get the positive later on... have you thought about going in for blood work or you gonna see how the next couple of days go?
Also, the pms-ish feeling you're having doesn't mean its AF coming... could be that you're preggy!!!

thedjinn- Gotcha... I'm sorry your mom's appt. didn't go as well as you hoped!! not sure if you're checking anymore but good luck to you whatever you guys decide to do!!!

AFM- I'm CD12 and normally I would have already ovulated.. but thanks to Pregnitude I have a more normal cycle and I got my 3rd blinking smiley face today... same thing happened on my last cycle, 3 blinking smiley faces and then a steady smiley face. I'm hoping it will be tomorrow!! We'll see....

Lol I'm not great with pain but I'm horrrrrrrible with anxiety for strange places, not having control, strange people.....oh I could go on and on. My first mindset with cramps, muscle aches etc. is to take a bath. I would live in water if I could. The only thing that makes me (at least mentally) feel ok about no pain meds is that water supposedly helps with the pain and stress(baby also), also softens skin so less of a % of having to have an episiotomy, but out of everything being in control, emotionally and physically, no strange people coming in and out (nurse changes) won't have to stay in a hospital for a couple days. On top of that the hospitals that have labor & delivery that are the closest (40 minutes away) just seem dirty. I about freaked when I had to go there when my step daughter went into labor.

Granted, this will be my first so I know I have nooooooo clue what the pain will be like but I think I prefer pain with physical and mental comfort to no pain, physically and emotionally uncomfortable with insane anxiety. My only hopes is in the past I've had a problem with ovarian cysts and them bursting. Pain was insane but all I'd do is lay on the bathroom floor. I've known a few women who have had cysts burst and also given birth and they say the cysts were the same pain if not worse. I don't see that being true. Honestly I think they forgot about the pain because they had something AFTER the pain lol. But hey I'm hoping they're right! As to our upcoming appointment that would be amazing if it happened before hand. My fingers are crossed if not at least it's all scheduled.

Hopefully this will be everyone's month

Any update comeonbaby? Fingers crossed for you

Just took a FRER and dollar store both BFN no sign of AF?! Even checked high up for bleeding and nothing WTH? I have a cold sore that popped up yesterday(probably from all this stress!) still can't believe I haven't gotten either.

Yay for your apt dirtybirdsoaps and a water birth would be amazing, I wanted to with my daughter but for medical reasons it just wasn't for us, maybe one day!

Comeonbaby! I really hope you get that BFP like now, right now lol

miracle80 I am not charting or thinking about it at all right now, my mom was given 6 months to a year to live and we are looking into getting a second opinion. I am in charge of her last wishes, hospice, and afterlife care so we are just going to stress the baby thing right now. If it happens while we are using protection then it was meant to be.

Not trying to change the subject

Djinn not to overstep, and if you don't want to answer I completely understand but is it cancer? If so I'd look into cancer treatment centers of America. I lost my father 7 months ago to liver cancer and when I first got the news I called them. Unfortunately, it was already stage 4 and too far along. Heck I'm tearing up writing this. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to make it in time since I live in Florida and he was in Michigan and couldn't talk....I have no idea how he made it a month after I got there, well I kinda do.....he hated hospitals and as soon as I got there he was already getting dressed saying he was going home. Unfortunately I would say don't stress about BFN's or BFP's right now just let it happen but mainly hug your mom and TALK to her. My father was a very stubborn man throughout life so of course throughout him being terminally ill it was not to be mentioned. There was just so much I wish he would of said, but more so what I wanted to tell him.

One last thing, I don't know if you have experience with hospice but if not research! OMG The hospice that the hospital set us up with was horrible!!!! Basically me and my step mom were winging it because they never showed up when they were supposed to, let him run out of meds, didn't listen to what we had to say......it was a disaster. I read reviews on them a couple months after my father passed and there were so many negatives and people saying to research hospice that is available. We didn't have time. When we left the hospital they didn't think my father would make it a week, we didn't have time to research, switch, have someone reissue meds etc. to everyone's surprise though he fought for a month.

Not over stepping at all, yes she is on her third round of cancer, its cervical that has moved to her lungs, she has two tumors blocking her airway, here OHSU is the place to go for cancer treatment, so we are going to them. I lost my grandma and my aunt 4 years ago so we are not new to hospice and they were great then. I am my moms best friend, when her sister, my aunt, passed I took over on being her person, so I talk with her a few times a day, and we do family dinner once to twice a week. She was very sick when she walked me at my wedding in Sept. due to treatment, she was having radiation 5 days a week and chemo once a week. She is not wanting to do treatment again because it made her so sick, so she wants to just let it take its course and live her last bit of life with happy memories with family. We are doing stuff on her bucket list throughout the next few months. Its hard to decide on getting pregnant because well I don't want her to pass in the next 10 months and me be depressed with a newborn or about to have a baby but if she lives longer and could be there with me in the hospital, I would hate to miss that option.
