False hopes?!

Hi everyone!!

I'm new to this site so firstly a big hello to you all!!

Ok, here's my situation .. I have been wanting to conceive for around three years now although not actively charting or monitoring cycles.

I was referred to a specialist around 18mths ago to be told I had a very mild form of PCOS and that I don't ovulate regularly. I was given a 3 month supply of clomid but no sucess. I already have one child (9yrs old in Feb) so IVF on the NHS is out of the question. I had given up trying ..

About a week ago I started experiencing some symptoms .. first of which was EXTREMELY sore breasts! Next came nausea and hot flushes. My breasts are still very sore and the pain does not go away .. it's constant. The nausea comes and goes but is accompanied by bloating and gas (sorry).

I have very irregular periods and the length of my cycle varies. My last period started on 22nd December 2011 and was a lot lighter than usual .. it is now 12th January 2012 .. three weeks later. My symptoms have not gone away and just out of curiousity I did a pregnancy test today .. negative.

I imagine that if my dream of being a mother again is coming true then testing now would be too early. I hadn't even given it any thought until I started experiencing these symptoms and now I am hellbent on seeing a positive result!

I have just ordered a basal thermometer and chart so I can start keeping track. Does anyone have any advice for me or find themselves in a similar situation?

I am now starting the 'wait' before I test again and hope my intuition is correct.

Wish me luck!

Good luck to you!

We've only been trying since August and the 2 week wait is hard for me.... last month I didn't test at all and this month I've tested 5 times (2 didn't give a result and 3 were negative) but still no AF!

I went to my GYN last week because I was concerned with my sore breasts (and other symptoms)... he said it was a good thing because it was a sign that an egg was released for ovulation. And he had the nerve to tell me that he was excited about it! :-) I on the other hand, was excited about the news but less than thrilled that I would have to deal with the pain. He also said that taking 1-3 pills of Evening Primrose Oil every 8 hours would help with the pain....

Have you tried using an ovulation kit? They are good if your cycles aren't regular and it will tell you if you actually do ovulate, if you do at all. They are easy to use and better then trying to calculate on your own and its not very accurate.

I tried for four months naturally and then I starting using an ovulation kit and realised I ovulate early with my cycle length. The first time i used it i fell pregnant but had a chemical pregnancy..

Good luck :)

Thanks for your replies ladies ..

I purchased a basal thermometer and some OPK's so will now be tracking. Hopefully I wil be able to understand more about my cycles by doing so.

Maybe my symptoms are purely down to the fact that I have ovulated for the first time in ages!! My bbbs have never been so sore!!

Only time will tell ... will just have to wait ... wait ... and wait some more ...
