Should I test????

This is my first ever post on anything like this so please be kind!

The wait!!! I am not sure how far past ovulation I am, I have been getting blood tests weekly to check ovulation and it seems like O actually occurs a week later than expected (around day 20?), I had some ovulation cramps I think 9 days ago and have been getting cramps on and off daily since then. Also gassy and REALLY bloated over the weekend. Because I ovulate late I am now at CD 28, but probably only 8/9 dpo (based on cramping and confirmation from bloods that I did O) - Over the last eight months I have had 25 - 27 day cycles, but one 30 day cycle so I could just be a couple days later than usual. I try sooo hard to stay sane and not obsess over it, and NOT test (for so many reasons, mainly disappointment, also money when AF starts next day EVERY DAMN TIME) but I think I want to test this time because of the cramping. We actually TTC for six years previously before having a few years break from TTC and have only told a select couple of family members we are trying again, this time with medical help. We previously had failed pregnancies so there is a lot of fear for me and I generally just don't talk about it, but TTC again now for eight cycles and starting to go a little crazy with the TWW every month.

Tested today and got a BFN. Heart broken as I thought for sure this time it was going to be a positive result. Back to the fertility specialist in a couple of weeks so I guess we will just keep working on it. So sad right now. Feels like another month gone. We have now been trying for a about 6 years previously + nearly 8 months this time around, I thought it was all going to happen a lot easier this time around - I'm too old to wait six years again. This is only the second test I've done this year as I try and wait until I have a good reason to test, not just every month so I don't keep putting myself through this.

I think one of the hardest parts is now getting ready and going to work as if nothing is wrong, as if I don't feel like I've just had the worst morning ever and the last two weeks / 8 months has amounted to nothing! Sorry to be such a downer but I don't really feel like I can be this miserable with my family / friends.

The two weeks wait every month is killing me - I use all my patience on that two weeks and feel like I don't have any for anything else. I feel like I cry in the shower all the time because I can't put others through this emotional roller coaster, but yesterday I was so sure I told my two best friends I was testing today and was fully expecting to be able to tell them it was a positive result. Just crushed right now.

Hi there. I'm so sorry your journey to conceive has been so difficult. I'm a little confused reading your posts but it sounds like you are only 9 or 10dpo so you may just be testing too early. I had some trouble conceiving (2.5 yr journey) and ended up having two IUIs of which both got me pregnant though I miscarried the first time. With my current pregnancy (I'm now 14w5d) I did a HPT at 12dpiui and got a faint positive which was confirmed by a blood test the same day. So I'd wait a couple of days and try again. Good luck and I hope you get your bfp!

Thank you for responding. My friend suggested the same thing, I'm not sure if I ovulate later in my cycle and my period still comes at "normal" time though because according to my tracker and history I am due tomorrow at the latest.

Last time around when we tried for a long time I didn't do any ovulation tracking so I admit I'm not really sure how it works but thought (could definitely be wrong) that even if I ovulate later in my cycle and my period is due I should be able to test by now? I have tests which say accurate five days before period is due so I thought that means I should be able to test 9 days after ovulation and get a fairly accurate read.

I don't want to get my hopes up again but happy to be wrong about the timing of how all this works - to have hope would be a nice thing. This is the first time I have had blood tests to confirm ovulation so I don't really know if I always ovulate late or just late this time.

Usually you luteal phase is about the same length each cycle. Mine is usually about 13 days so I know that 13 days from when I ovulate I'll get my period. Those HPTs that can detect pregnancy before your period only work if you HCG levels are high enough early on to detect (and that all depends on when you implant) and they are more accurate the closer you are to your period. I never was a POAS addict so I only ever tested if I was a day late or for this one I tested the same day I was going for a blood test to check pregnancy cause I wanted to prepare myself in case it was negative. Even though it was positive I still didn't believe it till I got the blood test results back. Lol

Thanks for your posts. I think I understand it a little better now, I just hadn't ever really had a good but spent a good chunk of time yesterday with Dr Google.

I am now at the end of day 30 and still no period, I am going to wait until Monday to test which will definitely put me in the zone (at least 12dpo) and fingers crossed. I'm feeling pretty hopeful, but will also be OK with it if a no this time because at least now we know my Luteal Phase is shorter there are things we can do about that.
