Anovulatory - Advice and support

Hi Ladies,

I wondered if there were any other ladies out there experiencing the same thing as me and wanted to share advice and support.
I have been trying to conceive for 4 months and believed that I had a long cycle each month 35-45 days. I would baby dance around the day that I believed was my ovulation window and then go through the 2 week wait and spend money on countless pregnancy tests and then finally get a break through bleed which I thought was my period. After the 4th month I went to the doctor who did day 21 blood tests to test my hormones and this came back that I was anovulatory. This means that my body was not producing enough estrogen to release a mature egg from my ovaries and hence no ovulation. The cause for me is that I had been on the microgynon 30 contraception pill for 10 years. I am now waiting to here from the specialist whether they will start me on a course of clomid to get my body regulating again.
Has anyone been through this?
Is anyone going through this?
Does anyone think that this might be happening to them?

I hope we can swap advice and support each other.

What days did u think u may be ovulating? What hormones did she test? Day 21 test is primarily just a progesterone test...u wouldn't have any of that in ur system with a 35-45 day cycle length. U would only just be in the beginnings of firing off the right hormones in the right amount to stimulate anything. Are u temping? If not, I would suggest u start. Also use opk's and look into some supplements that can move O up to a more regular cycle day.
How long til u see a specialist?

There's a chance that ur actually not anov, and that things r just being tested too early in ur cycle making it appear like ur anov.

I have been TTC six months, my cycles are regular in length but I am not ovulating. After two months I started temping and using cheap OPKs almost every day.

This will be my first cycle on Clomid.

I would definitely recommend tracking your cycles in every way possible.

Good luck :)

Thanks dakotagurrl! My cycles have been all over the place ranging from 33 - 44 days so I have no idea when I actually ovulate. I asked the doctor about whether it would be too soon to do a blood test and she that it wouldn't matter. Yes the test was a progesterone test. I have been using opk's but always come up negative :( I think I will start temping to see what happens.
I am still waiting for my appointment to see the specialist and has been nearly 3 weeks now.
You make a very good point and I will look into this in more detail Thanks!!

Thanks Anniesplit, Let me know how your first cycle goes as I may have to go through that too. I try to track my cycles as much as I can but because they are so irregular, it is very hard.

They really should rename it the 7dpo progesterone test cuz that's ideally when u want it done. CD21 is based on a perfect 28 day cycle with O on cd14. I guess most ppl don't track in as much detail as some of us so they can't rely on the general pop to know when 7dpo is.

If u wanna try a supplement that may help shorten ur cycles somewhat, soy isoflavones are good. Of course u would need to be prepared to forfeit that cycle in case they don't work with ur body, but majority of women who've tried them have moved O and/or gotten pregnant from it (myself included). It's like any other drug/supplement, there are no guaranties, but really, at this point, it wouldn't hurt to try. If u r anov, it may help u O. If ur not anov, it may move O to a more reasonable day for u. Ur call, I'm just throwing it out there in case u aren't aware of it.

Lemme know if u need any help with charting or supplements. Good luck! =))

My cycles naturally are 32-50 days and anywhere around that. I have been TTC seriously for over a year and have had three MMC over the last decade. I have been going to an RE and after many hiccups I am starting my first Femara/combo cycle. Look for a good RE and find the combo that works for you! Modern Medicine is amazing!!! You can do this!

MMC 12/2000 D&C Molar pregnancy 12/2001 MMC 1/2015 D&C mosaic turners 3/16 Laparascopic cystectomy, Unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy 4/16 Femara no response 5/16, 6/16 Femara + gonal f + novarel or some combo =BFN 7/16 Gonal f only and trigger. IUI #1 8w no heart beat D&C triploidy
