Should I take clomid?

Hi ladies. Total newbie here, lovely to meet you all.

I have my beautiful DS who is 18months. Hubby and I are ttc #2. I wasn't trying when I got pregnant the first time round. Got off the pill almost 2yrs before I was pregnant with DS, but cycles were manic and irregular ranging from 33-45 days.

Now I'm ttc#2, 4 cycles in and all bfn. My cycles are still very irregular so I started opks the last cycle. Regular BD, at least 3x a week. I made sure I Bd-ed during +opk.

Today is cd 36, 8dpo, got a bfn this morning with a FRER. To be honest, I don't feel pregnant and deep down in my heart I think this cycle isn't the one for each.

My ob actually gave me clomid but I didn't start on it. I'm tempted to start it the next cycle. What do you ladies think? Any pros and cons? I'm worried if I don't get pregnant on the 3 rounds of clomid it will cause more issues for me in the long run, like my body won't be able to ovulate naturally etc. Am I being paranoid?

Any feedback and stories would be great. I'm so happy to have this community, the 2ww is driving me insane. I'm totally bonkers.

Baby dust to all!

Hello :) I wanted to just give you my two cents about Clomid. I have a beautiful, almost 3 year old, baby boy thanks to the help of Clomid. I'm not sure why your doctor prescribed it to you but my doctor had given it to me because my ovaries were only making small, immature follicles, Which made ovulation hit and miss. On my second cycle of 50mg we got our BFP, 9 months later our big boy arrived. I am currently on 10 DPO with my first round of 50mg Clomid, again :) I haven't had any side effects while taking it. I can understand you worry, Clomid blocks a part of the brain that detects LH causing your brain to tell your body to produce more which in turn is supposed to boost follicle size, maturity. Kind of a scary thought to think your body may rely on the medicine but in my eyes it would be worth it if it worked again.

Hi :) i wanted to leave my story my Dr. prescribed me clomid because I have ovary cyst like 8 of them that was the reason why i wasnt ovulating every month.. I was taking Clomid 50mg 2 pills @ night for 5 nights starting on my CD 3. On my second cycle with Clomid i got a BFP after trying for 1yr and 2 mo. unfortunately @ 7 weeks pregnant I had a miscarriage.. I am now on my second cycle after my miscarriage and im going to take Clomid again.. Were hoping for our rainbow baby! :)

Mrspincombe - thanks for sharing! Another big issue is that my DH isn't on the clomid bandwagon. He reckons we conceived the first time with no issues, he doesn't see why it would be an issue this time round. He is supportive but he just tells me I need to give it more time. It's frustrating. I've even thought of taking it without telling him, but I think that's too crazy on my part. He has said that if by July 2016 we still haven't conceived then we can try clomid.

To be honest I'm also worrying, what if I don't conceive after the first round of clomid (3m of 50mg).

My DS came so easily and I think i took it for granted, I'm always feeling guilty for not appreciating the first pregnancy enough.

I just woke up, 9dpo, another - hpt with frer. I'm driving myself crazy and I'm a poas addict lol.

Slnsrra - I wish you all the best! I am very sorry for your loss but baby dust all round to you and I can't wait to hear abt your bfp!

BTW I was prescribed clomid due to irregular cycles, the doctor said clomid will help me pin point ovulation and speed things up.

I really think you should try to convince your DH . I am exactly on your situation because my DH does not want to use pills to help. But I have PCOS and have been trying on and off for more than 3 years and it is terrible. So I am at that point in my life where I would rather take it again so I can get pregnant. Good luck.

Lalou - thank you for the encouragement. i even considered taking it behind his back but imagine if i end up with twins - would be VERY hard to explain to him :D haha

I am on cd40 today (which isnt unusual for me). 12DPO and BFN - been driving myself crazy cuz i am a POAS addict been going at it since 9DPO. i keep telling myself maybe tmr it will be a +ve.

am now at the point where i cant wait for AF to show so i can start again.

feeling quite down, because i keep getting cramps, and i tell myself maybe its my uterus making way for a baby, but deep down i know im lying to myself, it's just AF cramps.

Just chipping in here... my son was conceived on the 3rd month of Clomid 50mg taken days 3-7 6 years ago.

I have been trying to conceive my second one and again used Clomid (100mg taken days 3-7) and conceived on the 4th cycle. I am now 8 weeks pregnant!

The first cycle was on fertomid (generic) and then I switched to the genuine Clomid for the last 3 months.

I had no side effects apart from the mood swings.

It helped me both times and I call it my "miracle drug".

My cycles are very irregular and therefore no guarantee that I am even ovulating ... the Clomid took care of all of that.

Good luck xxx

Thanks for the kind advice babyhope! And CONGRATULATIONS.

I think i will try clomid. My AF is due any day.. I think i will give it one last try this cycle, and then I will start clomid the next round (in April).

Got lots going on in the next few weeks, hubby apart etc might not get chance to BD even if I take it this cycle.

Wish me luck girls!!!!

Hi,
Just a thought but have you tried vitex? It could bring your ovulation forward, shorten your cycle and even out your hormones. It is a natural substance so your dh might be more open to it. If it doesn't work by June, your dh would happily go along with clomid by the sound of it.
Thought I would throw in an alternative for you, whatever you choose I wish you the best of luck.
