defect test showing positive?

I purchased some online tests and used one with fmu in a cup. It came up positive under the time frame and I used another to see if it would too and used the same urine as the first test and it was negative... every test since then has been negative. Im due today or Saturday for my period and I was hoping for a positive because we have been trying for a boy. Is it possible I had a false positive due to the test being defected
