Male Infertility

My husband has had two semen analysis and both came back 0- he's azoospermic.

We are (finally) seeing a fertility specialist on the 8th of January. yay!

We had a really bad urologist who spoke about things he admittedly had 0 experience with. He told us our only options were adoption and possibly IVF. After coming to terms with it, I'm prepared for it.

However, I'm not 100% convinced those are our only options. My husband has had a lot of tests (done on my insistence not the urologist). His genetic test came back normal (hallelujah!). His hormones, in my opinion, were not normal. My husband is a healthy 30 year old man. The normal range of testosterone levels we were given were 348-1197. My husband came back at 255. The urologist came back with "well, that could be your normal." What is your experience? Does that sound like normal levels to you? Could it be the cause of azoospermia?

Hi,
I'm so sorry to hear about your husbands sperm. Research as much as you can before your doc apt so you can write a list of questions to ask. If you hear about a diet/exercise/supplements that might help ask the specialist when you go. It will save you a lot of time if you go prepared and well informed, it gives you both a little control over the situation.
Good luck to you both and never give up!

Hello,
My DH had really low testosterone a couple of years ago. I don't remember the exact number but I believe it was under 100. He was extremely stressed at work, and depressed. He went to the doc with stomach issues (he was eating poorly and drinking lots of Mnt. Dew at the time). He requested a blood panel and his hormones were shockingly low. The doc gave him some stomach meds, that didn't work and suggested testosterone. We had no idea the effects this would have on DH's fertility. I gave DH the shots for about 6 months, every two weeks. I asked the doc for a SA to see if the testosterone helped and there was NOTHING! It broke my heart. I thought TTC was over for us. DH was late 20's at the time.
In early December we went to a RE and his count was 102. It was the highest we had ever seen. The RE was very surprised considering the testosterone use. Don't give up hope. We did our first IUI with only 2.85 mil after the wash. It only takes one.
We had tried FertilAid for men before the testosterone and it brought DH's count up but not the morphology. You can find it on Amazon. I hope your RE gave you some good news!

Thanks ladies,

We ended up seeing the RE. He was not happy with the testosterone levels. We went forward with a PESA/TESA, but all he found were sperm with no tails on the right side the left side is just scar tissue. My husband is on HCG shots & Clomid, plus vitamins. We have a semen analysis scheduled for May 2nd and a follow up surgical removal if that doesn't work. If they find anything we'll move forward with IVF. I'm really hoping they find something.
