possible ectopic?

Hi,
Can anyone offer any other explanations than ectopic for the following hcg levels:
nov 16: 57
nov 22: 890
Nov 30: 2460
Dec 3: 2240
Dec 5: 4380
I'm wondering if maybe a vanishing twin could be playing with me?
It was inconclusive whether the ultrasound on 12/3 showed a sac or not (my tech thought yes, but the Dr. was not sure)
I am not feeling any pain, but my belly does feel less "full" recently.
I still have nausea and sore boobs, etc.
I wonder what the next steps should be. I'd hate to wait too long and rupture a tube, but I also don't want to chemically treat a viable pregnancy (I'm 40 years old!)
