6 Days late but neg. preg test?!

Ok, I am officially 6 days late!!!! That's about 4 or 5 days later than I've ever been in my life!! And not a positive pregnancy test to be seen! And yes, I've taken them first thing in the morning, smu, and afternoon urine. NOTHING!!! I'm exhausted, randomly nauseous (barely kept down my favorite meal last night!). WHAT IS GOING ON!? I feel like I'm jumping the gun by calling my. dr. this early on. I guess I just want some kindred spirits to tell me that I'm normal (translate: I just turned 30 in august, have never had a baby, been TTC 10 months, and am officially convinced I am entering pre-menopause).

We DTD last night and it seemed to help start things. The real period cramps started shortly there after and this morning she was there. And like I said, I have always, always, always been regular as well, even after I stopped the pill I really didn't skip a beat. So it's really nice to know that this is happening to others too, so if next month is something similar, I won't panic and start looking up menopause facts :-/ trying to decide if I should track ovulation this month or (try) to not care at all, which is the general advice we are getting from all directions. Just so hard to "not care". I feel like I'm throwing a month away if we aren't semi conscious of when O is supposed to be happening. Becoming very discouraged.

Abbie0455 don't get discouraged I'm trying this whole thing where I really don't worry about the whole TTC thing unless I'm late like this lol I know last year thethe year before last I was so stressed with the whole TTC thing I went on the pill just to stop my ovulating for a while it was just to much pressure but after a good long talk with dh I decided to go off the pill and haven't had any problems until now.

Mooglebaby I was shocked when my AF didn't come this morning because i could have sworn it was going to be on and flowing but to my surprise nothing dh says maybe we succeeded this cycle I'm really hoping so.

If your cycles have started to be less normal I would definitely suggest temping and charting. It helps so much if your cycles aren't normal to know when (and if) you ovulated.

I have very irregular cycles (anywhere from 28 days to 4 months, averaging about 2.5 months) and it has made it so much less stressful to temp. Then at least I know "oh this cycle was annovulatory so obviously I'm not pregnant and don't need to symptom spot" or "this is a really long cycle I guess. No O yet so I don't have to start the TWW craziness yet" or whatever. At least I know when to expect AF and when she's actually late.

OPKs have been very helpful for DH and I also. DH has a very low libido so we normally only have sex once every 2 weeks or something. Obviously, with irregular cycles this makes it difficult to catch the fertile window. OPKs have really helped a lot on getting our timing more ideal. However, if you're already having sex every day or every other day then OPKs would likely be more trouble than they're worth. Especially if you decide to try temping since O would be confirmed by the temp shift anyhow.

Also, there isn't any need to be discouraged about your cycles or that you're not pregnant yet. Cycles are regular until they're not. It isn't unusual to have some longer and/or shorter cycles occasionally and it also isn't abnormal for someone who previously had normal cycles to start having irregular cycles. Our bodies just aren't clocks/calendars. As far as not being pregnant yet: I'm not sure how long you've been TTC but the odds are somewhere around 20% per cycle with well timed intercourse. And on average it takes a couple with no fertility issues at all about a year to get pregnant.

TL;DR: Hang in there and don't be discouraged! Cycles are regular until they're not. It's pretty normal to have a change over time. It takes most people awhile to get pregnant but the odds are you will within a year and definitely likely within 2.

Best of luck to you! And sorry about AF showing up. That's always a disappointing day

Hey ladies, I use OPKS to track my ovulation. Is it possible to get a positive on an opk and not ovulate? I am trying to relax and destress just incase that's the reason I'm late. I'll let you all know when/ if AF starts.

You ladies are all amazing, thanks so much. So is it at least safe to say that if I have a period every month that I am ovulating every month? Or is it possible to have a period with no O? Thanks so much!!! :-)

Well I was told not to temp because I will not get accurate results just because I have insomnia and I have to take sleeping meds which knock me out for 8 hrs plus so needless to say the temp thing didn't son the sent me to a fertility specialist and they gave me a vaginal ultrasound and I was on my AF at the time so the lady got to see everything in progress and she told me that everything worked great I ovulate fine and I have eggs in each ovary and she also tracked my cycles for 3 months with me having a daily journal and said I ovulate on cycle day 13 or 14 and get my AF 13 to 14 days later so I rely on the opks and the sharp pains but last month I didn't feel the way I usually do when I O I mean I had the sharp shooting pain but not as bad as normal O pain. I've just had a long TTC road

@mooglebaby: Yes it is possible to get a positive OPK and not ovulate. Sometimes your body will "gear up" to ovulate but end up being unsuccessful. In such events it will either try again later in the cycle or you'll have an anovulatory cycle. The only way to be absolutely sure you ovulated is temping or BFP.

@abbie0455: Yes and no. You can have regular bleeding that could appear to be a period but not be ovulating. Americanpregnancy.org says this Having a period does not necessarily mean that ovulation has taken place. Some women may have what is called an anovulatory cycle, (meaning ovulation has not occurred). During an anovulatory cycle, women may experience some bleeding which may appear to be a period, although this is actually not a true period.

This bleeding is caused by either a buildup in the uterine lining that can no longer sustain itself or by a drop in estrogen. The main way to decipher if ovulation is in fact taking place is by tracking your basal body temperature.

I just had a tiny bit of pink on my tissue this morning. Hoping this is AF staying today. Fingers crossed. If not, I'm all planning to test Friday. I just Dint have those feelings of 'over tired' and thirsty like I did my first time (mmc). I feel out, so it's frustrating waiting.

Allhis21: thanks! I tenebre reading that a king time ago, but I had forgotten. I hope the nausea settled down. I've been a bit more nauseated than usual this month too...maybe just my subconscious mind wishing it. *shrug*. I'm still waiting for AF, but I think she's on her way.

Mooglebaby I'm sorry for the tiny pink stuff that started I know I woke up thinking I was going to be on my AF but nope this time when I whipped my cm had some yellow tinged in with the clear cm I took a hpt and bfn so I went on a rampage and cut up all the hpts its just to much stress I don't even care anymore I thought being late was a good thing turns out its its just as stressing as having AF
