40+ TTC in 2015

Hello,
I had to scroll through so many pages to find recent ladies who are TTC and decided to open a new thread for 2015. This should make it easier to find friends and buddies who are going through the same emotional roller coaster of TTC in their 40's.
Is it worth opening a new thread monthly to keep it current?
Would also like to wish everyone the best of luck, the more people that get a BFP gives the rest of us hope so please don't forget to post.
Baby dust to all ????

Hi all,
I am new here and after a lot of searching i finally find the topic i was looking for. I am going to be 44 this November and Im TTC # 2 since past 6 months. Havent used any fertility aids/supplements as wanted to get pregnant naturally.

Have seen one of my friend getting pregnant at 42 so thought that i should give it a try also. I have a son who is 6-1/2 and i really want to have the second one.

I have been marking my ovulation days as well but so far no luck so was hoping to get some guidance from you guys; looking forward to all the support that i get through you all.

love n hugs
all the best to all who are trying with a pray that we all should get success

Hello ladies!!
I have been TTC since natural miscarriage at 7 weeks in March of 2014. I was devastated as this was my first pregnancy. I am a diabetic and I also have PCOS. I am currently taking Fertilaid and using progesterone. Anyone else have success using this regiment? Also, if anyone else conceived over 40, I'd really love to hear from you. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Today I am 10pdo and just really hanging out waiting for AF.
I didn't think my body would snap back so quick, but I had signs of ovulation 16 days after the mc, so I did an OPK.. it was + so we bd, I dont think it took because I have NO .... NO symptoms, not even the normal tender breast (I am also on progesterone) that would normally show up after ovulation.
I have zero HCG left, so hopefully next round will be better.

Thank you Kerzie for the supplement thread, DH is now on Pyconogenol.

Sari, congrats !! that is great news! Gives us all hope

Franny, GL and FX for you!

Penny, I am not diabetic but I do have IR (treated with Met) also PCOS and we have conceived naturally 4x's in the last 12mo. Just need to figure out how to make them healthier. I can tell you I had better success after regular exercise and low GI meals. Sorry to hear of your loss. Good luck to you! xx

Kerzie, DH is taking the PYCONOGENOL. I have high hopes! Thanks again :)

And now, a little bit of general complaining... I finally went to a fertility specialist and was really disappointed. They did an ultrasound of my ovaries on my first intake appointment. It was day 7. They immediately said there were good follicles and that I should do IUI on day 9. I have NEVER ovulated on day 9. They wanted to do a trigger shot on day 8. That seemed a bit off to me so I said no. Wouldn't that be triggering an immature follicle? Does anyone know?

Anyway, the doctor said I would ovulate on Saturday but by that point there was ZERO sign of ovulation: not in my temps, not on my OPK, not on my fertility monitor and not in my cm. Meanwhile i had wrangled DH into TTC on Friday and Saturday and Sunday. It was very trying, and all for nothing. Finally seems I will ovulate tomorrow, 3 days after they planned to do the IUI. That would have been such a waste.

I'm feeling very discouraged that one of the top clinics in NYC seems so clueless... A good friend went through multiple treatments there and also feels she wasted her money on incompetence. So, where do I go?

Thanks for listening!

Franny16, in response to your question on triggering follicles: It's not enough to look at an ultrasound only and seeing a large follicle...... Although a follicle is deemed mature at 18 + mm it also has to have the corresponding estrogen level of 200 or more to be ready for the trigger shot. Triggering too early (or too late) decreases the likelihood for fertilization. Just thought I share this with you. Best wishes and I hope you will find a clinic/dr you can trust.

Thank you, Mozart. Yes, I was very suspicious. No blood test and also, not even a mention of follicle size. I cannot believe this place is widely considered in the top 3 fertility centers in New York City!

Hi ladies would it be ok if I joined in with you ? I am 41 and ttc babies 7 and 8 (I'm ttc twins) although will be more than over the moon with 1 lovely baby
I had the mirena removed on 6th Sept after a rollercoaster of a 4 years was so glad to have it out as had a chemical pregnancy with it in place last oct and a blighted ovum loss in July this year that was the last straw ! So out it came and here I am I have never joined a forum before so I am very new to this I have been on here for couple of weeks lurking about .

Hi! Just checking in with you ladies to see how everyone is doing?

Franny - I agree with Mozart! I always had a blood test to check my Estrogen levels WITH an ultrasound to look for follicles that may be ready. I stopped going to a specialist only because we couldn't afford IVF and the IUI process/cysts that I got while on injections was too stressful. Sorry to hear about your experience there!

Currently I'm on CD10 and my temps are already crazy. I use opks to help with figuring out when I am close to O day. Went to my Obgyn and asked for more progesterone and thankfully he gave me a prescription! YAY! I will start them on cd16. I hope and pray it will happen to us soon!
