Anyone using Femara?

I am new to posting on here... so here is our short story. We have been TTC for a year this month. We don't really have any diagnosed issues. My uterus is pretty tilted, but my doctor says that shouldn't matter. I am on my second month of Femara. Last month my progesterone level was 30, which my doctor was pretty impressed with and shocked that I wasn't pregnant! This cycle we are trying our intercourse timing differently. Just keeping it to every other day and hoping that will help. I am trying to relax more so I stopped temping and using OPK's. This whole process has been so emotiona!l I am currently 6 days past ovulation. I am having some symptoms, but wondering if they are all in my head!
Good luck to you all!

Hello Frankie- Welcome to CTP! I joined about 7 months ago. I haven't posted much on the forums, usually just post journal entries. But I saw your post and wanted to say hi!

I'm also on round 2 of Femara, taking 5 mg CD 4-8. I'm not being monitored by ultrasound or blood work, my RE doesn't feel it's necessary since I ovulate on my own. But we have male factor infertility issues, low count and low motility. My RE suggested we try Femara for a few months and see how it goes. If we don't have any success after 3 Femara cycles then we will discuss the next (very dreaded) step of IVF.

What dose are you taking? Have you had any symptoms so far?

I hope the Femara does the trick for you and your husband!

Thank you for replying! It's nice to hear from someone that is going through a similar situation. I have been taking 5mg on days 5-9. I also was ovulating on my own but it wasn't until very late in my cycle around day 25. My husband's motility and count was slightly low, however according to my doctor not enough to affect our fertility. My doctor wants to try 6 cycles of Femara then discuss IUI.
I am having some symptoms... some pressure/abdominal cramping, bloating, tired. I also have a head cold so not sure if this could be causing the tiredness.
How long have you been trying? What cycle day are you on? Have you tried IUI?

We have been trying for a little over two years, but didn't see a fertility specialist until a month ago. We haven't tried IUI, but I asked my RE about it and she didn't "recommend" it , said our success rate would be low due to our motility issue. She said if the next SA improves enough then IUI should be considered. We will be having another SA in a couple months to see if the vitamins (FertilAid & MotilityBoost) have helped. We will re-evaluate the situation and our next step.

I'm on CD 7 today, two more doses of Femara for this cycle. I have had a backache and mild cramps, so not that bad. Last month I had headaches for 2 days.

I usually ovulate a little later in my cycle as well. Anywhere between days 16-25, Average of CD 18, I guess that's still okay. That's a bummer you ovulate that late in your cycle, Maybe the Femara will help you O earlier...

Are you seeing an OB/GYN or fertility specialist?

So your around 8 dpo? having any symptoms? Maybe you will have a BFP this cycle!

The famara has helped me ovulate earlier. The last two cycles its been day 17 and 18. For me the femara causes really painful ovulation, so I definitely know when I'm ovulating! I've been seeing an OB/GYN so far. He has been really great looking into all options.
Today is 9 DPO.. I've been having some cramping/pressure in my abdomen, tiredness, tender breasts. I'm so anxious to test! My husband is trying to talk me into waiting until Sunday since I have a baby shower to go to on Saturday and he doesn't want me to be upset if its negative. We'll see if I can hold off!
Good luck to you!

Hi there-

How did your willpower hold up with testing? Any good news?

I'm CD 11 waiting to ovulate. I'll most likely O in about a week, unless we get lucky and the Femara makes me O earlier this month...

It was really difficult but I did wait until Sunday... I was spotting off and on all weekend, but I was still hopeful.... but it was a BFN.
AF came today. So it goes without saying that we are pretty disappointed. I was pretty hopeful this cycle!
I talked to my OB/GYN's assistant today. My progesterone was even higher than last month, 47. She was shocked I wasn't pregnant. I guess the little sperm just aren't getting there.
I have an appointment with my doctor Thursday then start the Femara on Friday.
Hopefully you do ovulate earlier. Waiting is the worst. Are you using OPK's?

Frankie, I am doing IUI this cycle, I am on 2.5mg of femara.
I've had one baby that took me 6 years to concieve with unexplained fertility. I am on day 9 of my cycle - so IUI very soon.

Hi ladies! I wanted to join this thread as I will be starting my first round of Femara in two days. I am Cd1 and to in tomorrow for an ultrasound to make sure I have no cysts, then I will return to my RE for another u/s once I get a positive opk and we are going to do an HCG trigger shot. My DH and I have been ttc for 20 months. We did three rounds of clomid that were unsuccessful because it made my lining too thin. I also ovulate on my own and my RE who I just started seeing two weeks ago is very confident that we will get pregnant on this!!! I sure hope so!!! I want to hear of some if you ladies getting BFPs so please keep us posted!! GL and baby dust!

Frankie- so sorry about AF ; (
That's nice you get to see your doctor this week. Is your OB doing ultrasounds or just progesterone tests?
I use the Clearblue fertility monitor, I got lucky and found it on clearance for $50, the test sticks are a little expensive ($45) but the box lasts me about 3 cycles. It's simple, there's no guessing! I love it : )
Are you going to temp & use opks this cycle?

Welcome opalfoxy & jenbeezy!
The more the merrier. It's nice to hear other peoples experiences, since they can differ so much.

Jenbeezy- I've never taken clomid, but I've heard many people say Femara has less side effects. I hope Femara works well for you. How long have you been with your RE? What types of testing have you & your hubby done?

Opalfoxy- is this your first IUI? Please update on your progress. Fingers crossed for you!
