Over 40 & TTC anyone in my boat???

Hi Everyone,

I am 44 this year and am TTC, I got married back in 2012 to my DH... We had a MC back in 2011.

I have 2 daughters for my previous married aged 20 & 16 with we love dearly.

I had been on the POP Cerazette/Cerelle for about 2 years and have hear so horror stories about not having AF etc...

Well I had been one of the lucky ones so far, I came off POP Jan 29th 2014 & O on the 13th.
Then on 15dpo AF came.

I guess I had mixed feelings as we are TTC but was still happy that we are in the game.

Anyone in the same boat?

Please share your stories

Hey! Anybody mind if I hop in and join y'all in this thread? I am 46 and desperately trying for baby #2 as my time gets ever shorter and the possibility dwindles. My first daughter just turned 3 years old last week and I've been trying since she turned 1. In that time, I've had 7 chemicals and 1 pregnancy that made it to 10.5 weeks.

I've done everything. 2 IVF, 2 medicated IUIs, 3 unmedicated IUIs, femara with TI. But the RE is done with me unless I do donor eggs (they don't let women use their own eggs after 44, except he let me do it at 45 - that's the cycle that ended in a missed miscarriage at 10.5 weeks) and my husband isn't on board with donor anything, so we've just been trying good old fashioned sex for the last 6 months.

ooops... trying to find words here....
looks like you ve tried anything you could
but i believe there is always a way and i ve heard of women at 46 and even 48 who did it!!!
i guess you ve tried different doctors too but there is always a "better one' a "more specialised one".

i ve consulted with 4 diff doctors since february and the one that made a difference (at least i think, fingers crossed) was doctor number 5.

have you seen many doc s or you trust one?

I've only seen 1, but he's the best in my area and it's a highly regarded practice (Shady Grove). I think my eggs are kaput, so it's really a matter of stumbling across a good one. With my last IVF, I had 16 eggs retrieved, but at day 5 I only had 7 embryos left - less than half. We transferred the 4 best blasts, but only one stuck (and she's the one who died - Trisomy 9) and the other 3 embryos weren't good enough to freeze. So out of 16 eggs, zero were any good. He theorized that the meds were doing more harm than good since eggs at my age are pretty fragile and sucky already, hence the unmedicated IUIs. I do seem to have plenty of eggs, so there's gotta still be a good one in there somewhere!

Good Morning everyone!
Welcome to group essemkay.

I am feeling off...usually at this time in my cycle I have super sensitive breasts and cramps. None of these symptoms are showing up. I don't know if my period is going to be late or maybe possibly I could be pregnant. Due to some family obligations, we relaxed this month so I would be extremely surprised if I was pregnant. Just feeling confused and annoyed. Sigh.

Karlou how are you feeling?
