Progesterone 7.4 @ 8dpo, Is it enough?

Hi everyone,
I am starting the dreaded infertility testing.
I had my Day 3 blood work and all results came back within the normal range.

My cycles are typically 24-26 days.
I ovulate around Day 12-14. Luteal Phase 11-12 days.
I am 30 years old. DH is 35.

I went in for "Day 21" progesterone blood work yesterday, on 8dpo.

The results came back at 7.4.
The nurse basically said "you ovulated, now let's see if you miss your period."
And that was it.

After scouring the internet, it seems that it might be too low?
I have read that it needs to be 10 or above if it's an un-medicated cycle?

This makes me think I will eventually need Clomid.

I have to do an HSG test and DH needs a SA....so nothing but fun stuff in my future.

Any insightful input would be awesome from those that are going through or have gone through the same thing.

I should also mention we have been trying for over a year with no luck.

Hi there. We have been trying for over 2 years now. We did get pregnant once but miscarried at 10 weeks. I have been under a specialist since then which has been good. I must say I have never dreaded fertility testing. I felt huge relief when we could finally get it as I know there were issues but until you have been trying for a year they don't want to know you.

That progesterone does sound a bit low. If you are going through a specialist then they should know what is required to sustain a pregnancy. I haven't had low progesterone so don't know for sure the level that is required.

They don't usually prescribe clomid to people who ovulate normally as it is not a particularly nice drug to take. They would more likely prescribe progesterone supplements, like they do for IVF patients. I am on my 7th cycle of clomid now and still no pregnancy. I don't ovulate regulalry which is why it was prescribed for me.

My husband has had three sperm analyses now. First one "spectacular" and the last two abysmal :( Amazing how it can change in a year and a half while living the same lifestyle!

I am due to have an HSG if I don't get pregnant in the next two cycles after this one (I am 2dpo today). When is yours going to be? I have heard some good things about your fertility after one.

We've actually decided to give it a break for a few months and shoot for a Spring/Summer 2015 baby.
My husband will go in for a SA this week or next, and IF there is anything that may need to be adjusted.....we're hoping it, if anything, would only be a dietary or supplemental adjustment.

As for me...I plan to do the HSG test the first cycle we go back to trying in late June. I have heard it can "clean out the tubes" the first couple of cycles after the test.
So...assuming again that everything is rather normal with no major blockage...we would get it done along with Clomid or whatever the doc says they want us to try.

Well out plans have changed considerably. We just had another SA done (last one was "spectacular" about 1 1/2 years ago). This one was very bad. Turns out this pushes us up the list for IVF. Basically it is very unlikely we will get pregnant based on the SA and so there is no point doing any more clomid cycles or even and HSG as IVF circumvents anything they would find. Now we play the waiting game for an appointment.

I must say I wish they did sperm analyses more frequently. If they had done one 6 months ago it might have shown the change in that area and hence I could have avoided many pointless clomid cycles. So having testing done is good! :)
