6 Fibroids, Stage 1 Endometriosis

Hello all,
I am 29, and married for just over a year. I have been ttc for over a year (since two months before my wedding, hehe). I thought I had one big fibroid, then found out I had five fibroids, so I agreed to an open abdominal surgery to remove them, because fibroids were the only thing we could find wrong with my reproductive ... area. I obsessed over the surgery and finally had it done a little over a week ago. They found SIX fibroids, an ovarian cyst, and stage 1 endometriosis. CURVE BALL. Had no idea about the cyst or the endo. All in all, my wonderful amazing doctors have advised me that I am now "anatomically perfect"! Which is pretty fantastic, and it makes me want to weep with joy as I write this.

I used to ovulate and have regular cycles. I used to be able to time my life by my cycles, but after two years with mirena, I haven't ever bounced back from that lovely break from my heinous period. (I had it taken out a year and six months ago.) I have a period if I am helped by clomid and I pray a lot. Even with clomid, my cycle has become extremely unstable. Like, we're talking take clomid, ovulate on day 26, and have a 3 week period starting on cycle day 48.

My big question is, will endo make a cycle stop, or draw it out to a 60 day cycle? I know fibroids will make a cycle terrible and painful as far as how much you bleed. And let me tell you from experience, it is as terrible as everyone says, but I'm wondering what would STOP my once very reliable cycle from marching on. Is it really the mirena, the fibroids, the endo..... what? Any ladies have a successful poas moment after battling these things???? I'm having trouble finding people that have had similar issues and have come out of the other side. Please share your experiences, thank you. :)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is absolutely the endo sweetheart. I've had it since my first daughter was born (she's seven now), & I can have cycles ranging anywhere from as little as 19 days to as long as 67. My periods themselves are always at least 7 days, sometimes 10, & absolutely horrendous. You never know if you've conceived because "missed" periods don't exist, you always cycle when you least expect, & when you do start, you feel like you want to gnaw out your own uterus out every month. The only relief for it is being pregnant, because all the hormones that your body produces for the baby apparently soothes the scar tissue. But be warned: it is LIVING scar tissue. You need to keep track of it & have someone monitoring closely, because if it gets worse, it can spread to other parts of your body, such as be wrapped around your spine or entwined in your intestines. I know from personal experience . It can absolutely interfere with the ability to conceive also, & with the ability to carry a pregnancy to term. I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this. Just wanted to give you a heads up sweetie... best of luck & baby dust!

I had surgery for endometriosis which was severe (stage 4 at the time of surgery) back in January and my cycles have always been between 24-33 days long, with an average of 27-31 days. I ovulate very regularly too.

I've suffered with endo since I was 13 and have always have regular-ish af. I've heard bad things about the mirena. Birth control full stop is horrible on the hormones within the body especially the longer acting ones. I used to take the daily pill to help with my heavy af from the age of 13 until I was 18. Perfect cycles timed to the hour, I kid you not! Then I stupidly asked for the implant in my arm and had an af that lasted 3 months!! Needless to say I had it removed and it took 6-7 months for my cycles to become regular again. Endo affects 1/10 women and is a big cause of infertility in women, but the reasons for that vary, it physically can stop an egg from being released, moving down the tubes AND implanting properly. I wouldn't say it would make your cycles crazy long or short though, there will be other reasons for that, possibly hormonal reasons.

TTC #1 since August '13. 44th cycle started 8th January '17. Currently in the process of an IVF cycle. 9 eggs collected 23rd January '17. 1 egg fertilised and looking at putting this fighter back on 25th January '17. www.lifewithendosite.wordpress.com
