Starting Fertility Exams - lets share our progress!

We are TTC almost 2 years without any result. I am 37 years old and we have just started a series of Fertility Exams, in order to see why BFP has not been shown yet. Recently I was diagnosed with a small fibroid of 2cm, about which my doctor told me not to worry, due to its position and size. I am waiting for the AF to come in order to do on the 3rd day the blood tests checking my hormones and thyroid and as soon as my AF stops to have HSG test (that scares me!). In the meanwhile we ll also have a sperm diagram.
This week I had my PAP test and a general blood test (I am waiting for the results)
I am now on DPO 6, again, as always, hoping for a BFP. I dont pay any attention to symptoms, as believe me, during TTC process I had them all!
I would be happy to see your responses and I would be happier to see more BFP announcements!!!!

I have my first appointment on friday. It was 2-3 month wait to get in. sigh..
Today I'm 8dpo but I feel there might be a BFP on the way. I just feel like this might be it and I've been having a crazy amount of CM.

The thing is, I think it will be to soon to show up in testing at the appointment. I'm not sure if they will do a sono to check tubes and could see it that way though.

btw I'm 40

Ten dpo over here. If AF shows up, I've got orders to call the fertility clinic for an ultrasound appointment. Really hoping I won't have to but I'll definitely update here if I end up making that call. Baby dust!

I hope you both have good news soon, so that you will no need to have the fertility exams!
baby dusts!!!!!

lwilliams1922: it is early to see if you have conceived, but it is good that you ll have the appointment with your doctor. Having cm, is a good sign, not for being pregnant, but you have probably ovulated this month. My doctor told me this during my last appointment.

LadyCarol77: good luck to you too! is it the first time you ll have ultrasound?

Yup. This will be my first ultrasound (AF showed yesterday). After 13 months ttc, I bit the bullet and made the RE consult appointment. (I'm 36, btw.) Really wish I had done so sooner. My gynecologist clearly knows nothing about infertility because almost everything she told me, my RE contradicted. Which is good, because the gyno really scared me. The specialist took blood for a general OB panel, TSH, and prolactin. I've seen the results but we haven't discussed them yet. They looked to be in the normal ranges. Hopefully, he'll go over that with me later. Still awaiting DH's second semen analysis which we hope to have early next week.

I'm really scared they're going to find something terribly wrong with me. I know it's no use worrying about it, but I can't help it. Fingers crossed! Will update when I get back.

LadyCarol77 I am so sorry that AF came, I am wishing you the best for the next cycle!
Dont be stressed about the exams. It is good to know what might be wrong, so to take actions. Since I started monitoring our TTC process with the doctor, I feel relieved.
Fingers crossed for you! I wish you the best results!!!

For me, AFM General blood tests were good, I just have low ferritin, maybe due heavy AF I have (fibroid may have caused it).
I ll keep you updated with the next results!

Hellur, ladies!

Thanks, kethryes. I was so nervous at the appointment, the doc had to tell me to relax...a few times. But he didn't seem worried. It was transvaginal, so I got violated with an ultrasound stick. Doc had a hard time getting my left ovary into view. Got a little painful there, but I kept my attention on the screen. Got a prescription for Clomid and Ovidrel trigger shot. Will start Clomid tomorrow and then they'll call me when I need to shoot myself up with the Ovidrel. My next appointment is on the 18th to see how things go. I've been looking at success stories online and it looks promising. Lots of women getting pregnant first or second cycle on this protocol. Right this second, I'm a bit worried about the side effects. Especially with the shot since it's the pregnancy hormone. I guess that will be a good indication of how nine months of baby growing will be like ten years after my last pregnancy.

Went to the first fertility appointment yesterday.
The facility and people were all very nice. I was a bit shocked though when one of the first conversations (before tests were run) was to see if I wanted IVF. There was a chart on the table in the room that showed chances of good eggs by age. Between 40- 44 the odds didn't look good. ....sigh
I told them I wanted to begin with the testing. Our insurance only covers the testing and evaluation so that is the only conversation hubby and I have had.

They did a blood draw and sonogram. The indicated there may be a fibroid that could present a problem so they want to do a die test if AF arrives.

i was 10DPO and I was hoping their blood test would show something but I was saddened when I called back and they said it was negative.

Temps was still elevated this morning so I'm still waiting this month out and will do another urine test tomorrow (12 DPO).

lwilliams1922, do NOT lose hope. Just because the "odds" are against you, means nothing until you know what's going on inside you. I work in a pharmacy and I have seen women 40 all the way up to 50 years old get pregnant. All some of those ladies needed was fertility meds and well timed intercourse. I've also seen 20-somethings struggle for a pregnancy and even give up and resort to adoption.

As nice as the clinic you're going to is, if they keep pushing you to IVF when you're not comfortable with it, find another. I just dumped a doctor who did not take my fertility concerns seriously, calling me in for appointments and doing nothing but tell me I don't have anything to worry about and push me right back out the door...meanwhile, depleting my health fund with these "consultation visit" fees.

I'm pulling for all of us, ladies! We've taken the first big steps to getting our babies. We got this! Buckets of baby dust all around!

Ladycarol, you are so right! Iwilliams should not lose your hopes, and if you dont feel comfortable with your doctor, just go to another. I just changed my doctor, as the previous one looked so ironic to my questions and also so "disturbed" whenever I called him! Although he is my doctor since I was a teenager, I went to another and I feel more relaxed now!

Iwilliams, could you please explain me what is a die test? Sorry I am not a native English speaker and some terms are very difficult for me to understand.
Also, if the blood test was for pregnancy results, I guess it might be early at DPO10. I know you are impatient, it is happening to me in every single cycle as I want to have tests every day! But I try not to do them, as they are too expensive, and they might show nothing before DPO 14. During this almost 2 years TTC process, I have tested only 2 times.

LadyCarol: I am sorry that you felt uncomfortable with the ultrasound. It is happening also to me, esp when the doctor searches for the right ovary!
I am a little nervous about the HSG (Hysterosalpingography ) which I will have after my next period! They say that is painful.
Clomid stimulates ovulation, but I think it reduces cm. Ask your doctor if you should been prescribed something to increase your cm.
I was on clomid last year for one cycle only. The only side effect I felt was that the last day I had some vision problems.. How can I describe them? it was like trailers, moving objects had a trailer. I told this to my new doctor and she said that might be a very rare side effect. I googled it and I saw that most women dont have side effects! So dont you worry and If you feel something not normal, just inform your doctor!

I hope all of us to see our BFPs before our next exams! In the meanwhile lets enjoy intercoursing!

Thanks, kethryes. The only side effect I noticed was weird dreams. You know, more than normal. And to answer your question, the dye test is the same as the HSG. I've hear conflicting stories on that. Some women say it was super uncomfortable and others say it doesn't hurt at all. Hopefully you'll be one of the luckier half...that is unless you get your bfp first. Fingers crossed!!
