First attempt with Clomid.. chance of multiples??

Hi Ladies!!

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a year and a half and we are starting clomid for the first time today. I was wondering if being put on 100mg vs 50 mg will increase our chances of multiples even more? Although I would be so happy with one, the thought of having twins is exciting! Twins don't run in our families, so I don't know if that would have a negative impact. We have been through a lot of testing and have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Although the doctor thinks I'm ovulating, she thinks that my luteal phase may not be long enough during some cycles to support implantation. I am happy to know nothing is wrong with us, but at the same time its extremely frustrating to know that it's just not happening for some unknown reason. If I do regularly ovulate, do you think the clomid will help, and maybe bless us with more than one? Crossing my fingers this is our last month of trying and for all you out there in the same boat as well!!

I am so sorry to hear that :( I don't think this is going to be my month either.. I';ve been doing the ovulation kits every cycle for the last year and a half and never missed an LH surge. However, with clomid this month, I'm on day 15 and still no smily face... have you heard of this happening? I don't get it.. I'm cramping on my right side, which is normal for me during ovulation, but without the LH surge, I don't know what to make of it. This process is so frustrating and I'm trying to keep my spirits up. I have a follow up with specialist in December; maybe IUI will be our next step. I just don't get why I wouldn;t ovulate on clomid when I ovulate on my own (according to kits).

I am feeling a lot happier than when I made that last post. I ovulated yesterday! I don't know how good an egg I would have produced with that dreadful estradiol level a week beforehand, but hey, ovulation is good. At least it means my cycle will have an endpoint!

Since starting clomid I have had trouble with OPKs. I don;t know if it is causing me to ovulate at a different time of day or something so I am struggling to meet my surge. But, this cycle I got a reasonably dark line, not officially positive, but the darkest I got, and I ovulated the next day so I am now counting that as a positive. Could have surged before or after.

My advice is, just monitor your other symptoms and have sex accordingly. I treat OPKs as a backup but watch my signs carefully. I have noticed patterns in temperature, and more subtle cm changes too. This allowed me to calculate a few days beforehand when I thought I would ovulate, so we had sex in the really fertile time. But just every couple of days is fine! If you are cramping ovulation is either just round the corner or just happened, so assume you are very fertile.

I watch my symptoms closely as well. Although I haven't got the whole temperature thing down. I can never remember to take it when I wake up. lol I finally got my opk+ yesterday morning on CD17, which is really late for me but happy to finally see it! Now we begin the horrible 2 week wait! what dpo are you?

I am 5 dpo today. Ovulation was confirmed with a blood test yesterday. Waiting, waiting :)

I am 4 dpo now and crossing fingers for all of us! I noticed something different for me this month and don't know if it's a side effect of clomid. When my husband and I bd, it is still painful on one of my sides. This is normal for me reaching up to ovulation, but always subsides immediately following. Did you experience this?

Very interesting. I have definitely noticed ovulation to be more painful that before clomid. This month I also had some interesting pains on 5dpo. They were needle sharp around my inside hip area. They were particularly sore when I moved and even caused me to yelp. They were gone by morning. I haven't had that before, but WAY too early for implantation so no idea what it was.

7dpo today. Still a couple of days until implantation is likely. I have been very patient so far (due to my extreme busyness at work I suppose!

Any good signs yet? I'm 7 dpo today and don't feel a thing :( I'm starting to lose faith.. I always get so bummed around this time of my cycle. The inside hip pains stopped a couple days ago, and yesterday I had this weird sharp sensation inside right below my belly button lol.. who knows!! Have you stared testing yet??

Don't get sad now, it is still a couple of days before you are likely to even implant if your egg is fertilised. So it will be a few days before you could feel anything anyway. I had no unique symptoms when I was pregnant and I had great HCG levels for the first few weeks!

I am at 10DPO. Nothing to report really. Have been having creamy cm everyday since 4DPO but that has been normal since starting the clomid. Just playing the waiting game. If there is no spotting before Saturday then that will be my day to test. That is good as I hate waiting through a weekend wondering!

Saturday?! You r crazy! lol! I have been testing every morning for like 3 days already (guess I'm a little nuts). I am currently 9 dpo and no symptoms and negative tests... however, I looked back at my journaling and I found I usually start spotting at 9-10 dpo prior to getting my period (usually 14-15 dpo). I know this sounds aweful, but I get so excited when I go to the bathroom and don't find any spotting. Anything yet?? I am routing for both of us! I'm hoping to give my husband an early Chirstmas gift... which would give us enough time to annouce it to the family on Christmas (which would be perfect!)... lol, maybe it's the clomid, but my mood has gone from depressive to uplifting :) I have hope for both of us!

Ha ha maybe I'm not the crazy one :P My period is only due on Saturday! I have been fooled before. Twice in the past few months I have been all set to test, and when I took the test to the bathroom I had spotting. So I really do need to wait! And yes, I get excited every time I go to the bathroom and there is no spotting too! It makes me go far more frequently though!!!

I know my mood is great at the moment. Clomid can definitely cause that as it increases progesterone levels and that is a happy drug. The problem is (beware) when those levels drop just before your period then it is a huge crash and lots of tears ensue...

I am on 12DPO today and my temp is still high (like my last two cycles on clomid). No spotting yet either though I would only expect it tomorrow or the next day so certainly not getting my hopes up yet. Last month I was convinced I was pregnant so no matter how amazing my symptoms (or lack thereof) I am going to try to keep myself on an even keel.

It would be amazing if we were both successful this month :)
