Doctors visit

Hi ladies
Just here for some moral support. 4 months ago I discovered that I wasn't ovulating. I'm 40 and we have being trying for about a year. So my doctor set up and appointment a few months ago with a GYN.
He told me to go away, loose 10kg come back in April and he would decide what to do for me.
So we have our next appt on Friday and I haven't lost a pound never mind 10kg.

I know his right, and I really don't have a valid excuse as to why I'm the same weight.
Does anyone have any advise on how to proceed with him..
We really just want to know everything is okay.. I.e egg count, sperm count and some clomid to kick start the ovolution.
Can he refuse to treat us?? Can I go to another gyn?
Does anyone have similar experiences ?
Thanks

I think it has been researched that it is harder to conceive for women who are both over AND underweight. HOWEVER with that said I know plenty in both categories (including myself) who have conceived and had a healthy baby.

First, I would certainly look for another doctor for a second opinion. I think his recommendation is valid but should not be the end all be all. When I went to a fertility specialist and was approximately 20 lbs overweight he still did testing, a hysteroscopy, and then prescribed progesterone and put me on thyroid medication as I had hypothyroidism.

Do some research online as to reasons you may not be ovulating before you see the doctor again. Challenge him/her with those reasons and see if he/she will do some testing. If he/she still refuses to treat you due to your lack of weight loss then I say look for a different doctor.

Newbie, I just turn 40 Dec. 2014 and if you go BMI I would be considered overweight, but let me add I have PKU (Phenylketonuria). I will explain what it is for you because I already know very few people know what this is, it is a genetic disorder you are born with and in short your liver does not break down protein the way it should. Once a baby has been tested for it they will place him/her on a very strict vegetable diet in order for him to grow and be healthy, if the baby is not place on this diet and maintain low phenylalanine(PHE) it will cause them to be mentally challenged. With that being said, I agree with brewerar, I would most definitely go get a second opinion by a different OBGYN that is not in the same building/office as the one that was not willing to help. I went to my OBGYN and when I told him I wanted to try to have my first baby, and once I was off BC for a year and not using any protection he sent me to a fertility specialist. Hope this helps please feel free to ask any questions and I will try my best to help.

Ok so it looks like there are a couple things going on. I still hate when doctors just write you off for one reason.

I am wishing you all the best wishes and hope you are able to find a doctor that will work with you! He/ she is out there, just a matter of finding them.

Thanks all for the support and advise.

So went to the doctor today and looks like we're off and running.
Other half is scheduled for a semen analysis, I'm scheduled for a HSG.
And provided both are good we are starting on clomid.
Happy with todays progress although I do feel like we wasted 3 months, we could have had thoese tests completed already.!

Also got my 2nd round of day 21 bloods today, I've gone from 27 to 33, so the clomid should help pg.

Had my HSG today.. Wow

So my right tubes was narrow but the dye flowed through no problem. My left use was blocked.
Took the doc a few times to clear the blockage but he did.
Hurt like a &€@?!&€/)&@€) but so worth it

Really excited now, my other half is booked in at the end of the month for his seamen analysis.

Good progress today and I'm excited for the next few months,

Omg..
So a month ago I had the scan done, then 2 weeks ago, I got an email from the doc, he wanted me back in to clear the narrow tube.
I was travelling with work, so only set the appointment for last Friday.

Anyways Friday morning came and I was two days late, do decided to do a pregnancy test before going to the hospital.
So it has the faintest blue line, like you really had to hold it up to the light to see it.

But I decided to cancel the scan, just in case..

And I've just done another test, and it's super positive.

It's nearly too good to be true.
Fingers crossed.. This will result in a baby in 2016..

I can't believe it's only a week ago that I added my last note on this.
So I started spotting last weekend.
Went to the doctor today, it took a while for the test to come up positive, but it did.
When she checked my cervix, she found it closed tightly, a good sign.

So what now..
I have an appointment with the early pregnancy unit on Friday for a scan to find out what's going on.

So this maybe pregnant lady is on hiatus till Friday evening.

Had my appointment on Friday and they did a scan, but couldn't see anything.
So they took a blood test and again on Sunday.
My HCG was 170 on Friday and 120 on Sunday.
So that's out.. Oh well

They have set up another appointment for me next Friday at the EPU, I have no idea what for...

Okay so I know this is turning into a blog.. But so be it

Last month I had a second HSG, where they widened the other tube. Went prepared this time and took 400mg of ibrofen before going in.

So I now have my first prescription of 50 mg of clomid, I'll be starting it in the new few days, been told to take it day 2 to 6.
Bloods to be taken at day 21, if poor he is going to up me to 100mg

This is it for us, we have decided not to go down the whole IVF, IUI route. If this doesn't work after a few rounds, I'll be hanging up my ovaries and our babies will be wherever our suitcases carry us.

Hi newbie, was reading your journey and was on the edge of my seat gritting my teeth. Was so happy when I thought you were pregnant and then you were back getting clomid. I'm so sorry you went through all that.
Many woman that don't ovulate have found success using Vitex (also known as Agnus Castus or Chasteberry), it is a natural supplement that doesn't cost too much over the Internet. I only mention it because you said that if clomid doesn't work then it's over for you. Don't give up, there are always alternative options. That being said I really hope things work out and you have a BFP soon.
Good luck sweetie xx
