Implantation bleeding or out of whack period?

Hello! so recently i have been feeling a little bit off...i feel pregnant but then again that could be me wanting to feel pregnant and my mind taking over.
Anyway, i am about 10dpo today and i took a pregnancy test this afternoon...bfn
but right after that when i wiped i noticed brown discharge (not too much, no weird smell or anything) and it's gone away since then. I am not due for my period for another week, so could this be implantation bleeding? and maybe it is too soon for a test, and that is why it read negative? please someone help me find an explanation :(
i have never been pregnant before, so i really don't know what to expect.
Another thing, about 2 days after my last sexual encounter (so february 18th) i got a kidney infection...could this be the reason for the spotting, and all the pregnancy symptoms? thank you in advance!
