What is the average time for success at the age of 34?

This is out ttc#1 and 5 months still no success even though I am charting bbt and using opks. Just curious to known if anyone had success in their 6th month ttc thanks :)

Hi!

I am in exactly the same boat as you are (34 this July) and been trying for the exact same time. I am pretty sure 6 months is normal (fingers crossed for both you and me this cycle, in that case!) and to start worrying when it gets past the 12 month mark. Those are the statistics :( I Really hope we don't have to wait that long. I'm looking forward to seeing some true life positive replies on your post.
The factors working against me, I am sure, are my BMI of 35 and Asthma. But if you are completely healthy and your partner's sperm count also healthy, I don't see why you shouldn't get a BFP soon :)
I'm going to check in and see how you're doing :)
Good luck! xx
p.s - we tried SMEP this time, I'll let you know how it went..

Hi marypoppins,

Thanks for your sweet reply :) I really really hope this month will be our lucky month (for both you and me). Never knew trying for a baby will be so frustrating . I know people who got pregnant in their first month of trying and some had accidental pregnancies. But for some it is not that easy unfortunately. Here GPs don't refer to fertility clinics for sperm count and related check ups, until it has been over a year trying. But they might do a bit earlier for us since me and my other half (OH) are both over 30. Will go and see my GP next week.

I don't think your bmi and asthma will cause any problems as far as you have a healthy diet and asthma under control. I have a bmi of 21 and my OH is also about average but we are not really very fit in terms of working out etc.

Wish you the very best of luck and hope to read your good news very very soon xx

Hey Hun,
I know exactly what you mean. A few of my relatives have just announced pregnancies and said 'we thought we'd have to try for at least a year, but it just happened in the first month'. It kills me as they are the ones who have been putting off babies for things like a career or leisurely travel, but I am ecstatic for them :) I also had a friend who had an abortion last week and I cried on the inside as she doesn't know how much some people are trying (although I fully empathize with her too as her b/f blatantly said no way to the child and left her, so she had her reasons) and I hope she gets pregnant just as quick in the future as she is amazing and deserves a lot of happiness in life..
I really do hope my BMI isn't a huge factor as I tend to keep fit if and when I can and try to eat healthy (the weight gained is from college years and haven't managed to shed properly) I do hope you're right!
Wow, a BMI of 21 is normal and you seem perfect and healthy in that respect :) I am absolutely positive that you won't need to go to the Fertility specialist and will give us some good news soon!
Are you in the UK, btw? I come from there and am used to referring to Doctor's as GPs, heehee
