Who wants to get Sept BFP's!! After trying for a few months.

Hi Everyone!

I am trying to muster up any confidence I have left at this point and feeling very discouraged do to our situation. In comparison to some ladies I know I am not as bad but still feeling down from last month and the prior 6 months total as well. Me and my husband have been trying since beg March this year and we are both healthy and young enough to start a family but no luck yet. I have connected with some ladies and it seems everyone of them has gotten a BFP on their first try or so and I would like to hear from those of you who are in my position where you are still trying and its just taking longer. I am looking for some support and stories about your journey so far and what you think of timing and any other methods you have been following. I'm interested to hear your thoughts now that we've all been at it for a while. What do you beleive in and what are you not going to try anymore?

For us, we tried for about 2 months the normal way just with me taking prenatals and not really understanding the timing of the O day and OPK's or anything like that. After that I researched about those things and figured out what timing was better than others and started using OPK's just to pin point my days, however, I have always been on a solid schedule of 26 day cycles and I know when AF comes each month so I'm not sure how much that has really helped me honestly. I also logged my BBT for a month and it felt more stressful than I think it should and it didn't help me really so I stopped that too. Now that we have passed the 6 month mark, I am scheduled to go to the fertility doctor and see what they can tell me or test for incase there is a bigger problem going on. I feel we have timed everything right for at least 3 or 4 months now and nothing ever changes. I even had my DH do a home test that came out positive for being at least at a normal sperm count.

So, what are your thoughts? What's your story? How long have you been TTC and what are going to do from this point on different?

I can't wait to hear from you! I need to know I'm not alone in this!

I use OPK and last month I also used Clomid with IUI and no pregnancy. This month I didnt do Clomid or IUI. I had my tubes untied a few months ago so we were tehnically not supposed to start trying until July, but I started trying right after surgery lol. Any way, this month I did OPK and got a positive on 8/13 and we BD before the positive test, after and all the times in between lol. I have been taking my temp and noticed a dip yesterday and a spike today so Im believing it was an implantation dip so we shall see soon. I am 7DPO so its too eary to test but I am trying to patiently wait this out.

Hi TSIMMONS!

Crazy road you've been on as well I see. What made you start on Clomid or IUI's and what are they? I don't know much about feritility methods but I'm kind of afraid to take anything that may over stimulate or complicate things worse. Do you have a conditiion that caused you to start taking it or was it because your tubes were tied and you had to kick your body back in gear so do speak? I hear alot about Clomid and IUI's but what happens to have someone start taking anything in addition to just trying??

But in the mean time, I'm sending you lots of in hopes that all your efforts pay off! :)

Hi there! So we started trying in 2010 though like you it was more of a just having unprotected sex without understanding much about the timing. Boy was I off! (turns out I ovulate late, I don't think it's ever come earlier than CD18.)

After many months of using opks and a month or two of also taking my temp we had it down, until November of 2011, I think I started testing with the opks too late and missed my O day. That was also when I found out I had fibroids so we stopped trying for a while to figure out what we wanted to do. Lo and behold, that's when I got my BFP. Crazy. I had a missed miscarriage in December and had to do a D&C in January because it never happened on its own. By then the fibroid had grown to the point that I had the uterus of someone who is 6 months pregnant so my doctor said it would be too dangerous to try to have a pregnancy with that thing in me. I got those out in April, and was given the ok to start ttc again in July, so here I am. This is our second cycle ttc since the surgery and I'm REALLY hoping it's finally out month!

I've had periods of being totally frustrated and depressed and periods of being hopeful, and I'm in the "hopeful" stage right now, but I turn 36 in October so I really don't want to have to wait TOO long. I thought by now I'd have two kids... but at this point I'd be happy with one healthy baby.

Hi el2011!

Thanks for replying and sharing your story! Wow!!! Is all I have to say! I've never heard of fibroids and I'm curious to hear how you found out you had them? Are they a genetic thing or just something has happens to anyone? What's a D&C? I guess I don't know alot of the lingo still sorry. Did you wait 1 year before getting checked out?

It's amazing the road you've been down too!! OMG I commend the fact that you are still so strong and optimistic I hope I am as strong as you. I have to say I'm not very patient which is one of my worst qualities but I you don't seem to have that problem :) Good for you!! :)

I hope all of that is part of the past now for you two. :)
If you are both still healthy then age doesn't really factor in as much I'm sure. I've heard of people getting prego at 43 so it can happen! :) So how far are you in this month?

Today I'm at DPO 12 but I tested yesterday and it got a BFN using those 6 days early detect test from First Response so I am 90% sure I'm not again this month. Then on to my 7th month for Sept BFP hopefully.

I saw an ob/gyn about a year after we'd started trying, but it was really more like 6-7 months of *really* keeping track of stuff and timing things right. Sometimes I think I should have gone sooner, but I'm not sure it would have made a difference.

I had never heard of fibroids before November, either. (Though it turns out they are fairly common, my aunt and my mother-in-law both had them). I actually didn't think anything was wrong with me at that point, but the dr felt my abdomen and picked up on them right away and sent me for an ultrasound. Terrified me too - she made them sound dire!

They don't really know what causes them, but they think there might be a genetic link and they're estrogen/hormone related. They're basically benign tumors. It's funny, though, because there's this list of traits for people who are more prone to getting them, and I don't fit any of the criteria. Go figure. Also they vary a lot as far as size, where they're located, what kinds of symptoms they cause, etc. I didn't really have any symptoms except for a small hard tummy, but I thought 1) my abs were hard because I work out a lot, and 2) they weren't flat because that's just the way things are.

They tend to grow a lot with pregnancy, what with all the extra hormones all over the place, so mine got super large in just the short month I was pregnant. That's when I started feeling more tired, I was peeing all the time, I couldn't sleep on my back anymore, etc. Basically all the negative 'pregnant' side-effects without the baby. One started degenerating and put me out for two days with awful back spasms. Yuck. I got a crash course on fibroids in those short months, let me tell you! I saw several doctors before finding a surgeon I felt comfortable with who didn't want to cut me wide open or give me menopause-inducing drugs. I never wanted a male ob/gyn, but that's what I ended up with and he was awesome, I would recommend him to anyone.

I'm not really a patient person - I was just forced into becoming one! I did have some really depressed/hopeless months there this winter, but I'm doing a million times better now. In the grand scheme of things it could have been a lot worse - I was upset about losing so many months of ttc, and terrified of the surgery but it was actually not so bad and it went by quickly.

Hopefully your journey won't be half as long or as eventful! I'm glad it's all over now. :)

[edit] oooh... a d&c is the operation they do to remove a miscarriage/fetus. I forget what it stands for. We tried waiting for mine to pass on its own, but it never did and so I had to do it that way.

Oh wow! I didn't know it involved so many things! Crazy! It's funny you say you don't really fit any of the common list of people that are more prone because my whole life, for some reason, I always felt like I would have issues having kids but don't know why. Hopefully it's all in my head.

I didn't realize what a D&C is but now that i know that must have been so hard.. :( From what I know of my family and my mom noone has ever had any problems or complications or issues or anything so noone really understands how frustrating it is to try and not be successful with trying. I have my appt tomorrow at noon to see the OB and I think I just want to rule out things instead of hoping I'm ok. It would make me feel better at least. I'm not sure if they draw blood or do ultrasounds or anything i guess it depends on what they find.

I will have to write down all of these things i have heard that are common and asked to be checked for this stuff too just to be sure.

So did you just start your cycle again this week? How long are your cycles normally? I will start my next cycle tomorrow or Wednesday depending on when AF decides to show up!

@Mrsaskew11...We thought my DH sperm count was low so we tried to incrrease my eggs by taking Clomid and increase his motility by IUI. After the IUI we found out that his sperm count was ok and that we could either keep trying or continue with the IUI and Clomid just to increase our chances.

@TSIMMONS - Ok. I wasn't sure what Clomid or IUI's were for either so I didn't know that they are something to increase your eggs or his count. :) That is interesting. I haven't really researched any of this stuff so I appreciate your help.
Is the IUI when you have to give yourself shots or something else?

I was charting before too and i got an implantation dip as well but still no pregnancy. It seems like you have all your stuff timed right too so I hope get lucky this month. :) I got my +OPK on 8/8 so I'm done with my TTW but you are right behind me :) Only one more week to go! :) If you can wait that long. I can usually only wait until 10DPO or so. lol - I'm too scared to test again tho but i did test yesterday morning and got a BFN. oh well.

@mrsaskew11... IUI is Interuterian Insemenation which is when they washed the males semen and injected it directly into the cervix.

hi there

been trying now for about 3 years. had an ectopic in Nov 11 and have after seeing a fertility specialist we have tired timed intercourse where they take blood tests to tell when you are ovulating (much more acurate than OPKs) but that didnt work. Tried two rounds of IUI but they didnt work. Didnt have any medication as my hormones are fine.

Just had my first round of IVF egg retrival but got sick afterwards with Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Symdrome (OHSS) as I have very high levels of estrogen and over 23 folicles so i didnt have a fresh transfer but have 8 very healthy Blascysts waiting frozen waiting for the go ahead for my first transfer which i should be told this afternoon!!
