KLS - 1) Yep, a referral. If your primary doc doesn't know how to do initial bloodwork, he'll let the specialist handle it. But in my case, my regular doc did the initial bloodwork and 3 unmonitored rounds of clomid (ended up being 4 because of a miscarriage)
2) I really don't know about cost because my ins covers everything so far.... BUT the bills I've seen for the monitored cycles look like about $230/diagnositc ultrasound. So far the meds haven't been to expensive, but I don't see the bills for that very often either... I'm sorry
3) Preseed, I haven't heard one bad thing about it actually. We haven't used it yet though haha (again, little to no help here from me!)
4) With a 28/29 day cycle I would think starting day one is a little ridiculous too... maybe day 8 I could see... I'd assume you'd ovulate around day 14 with that cycle BUT maybe that's the issue? Your ovulation times are much earlier or later than expected? With ovulation tests I've always been told NOT to use morning urine. And I know it says STOP testing when you get a positive ovulation test... I wouldn't stop... sometimes there's more than one LH surge... and if you have PCOS, OPKs aren't gonna help anyway because people with PCOS have random spikes of LH thruout their cycle (causing positive OPKs at totally random times)

Ok KLS2010 here we go!

1) I started with my regular GYN for a year. Did the basic testing and tried unmonitored clomid cycles. I got a referal after that year to see a specialist.

2) Costs may be all over the place. I have insurance that has thankfully covered a lot of the cost. Without insurance I would go with a general obgyn that would treat you for fertility first. I would think that would be cheaper.

3) We use preseed every cycle and got pregnant using the two times we have. Helped us a lot!

4) I start testing on day 10 of each cycle. I have a reg 26-30 day cycle. But the first cycle I used OPKs I began early just in case. A few months of starting early will allow you to get to know your cycle.

Thanks for the info redshadoe0. Yeah I don't have all the signs or out of wack hormone tests at all. i have the polycystic ovaries and I get acne. I am not over weight at all and my insulin is under control completely. Even my prolactin and testosterone is normal.. So I am kinda stuck in no mans land!

Oh and showed up today...

Okay ladies... I don't want to jinx anything BUT today is 9dpo/10 days past trigger (dpt)... YESTERDAY I took a test and it was negative, leading me to assume maybe the trigger shot is out of my system... This morning, however, there's a second line!!! So... What do ya'll think?? Trigger shot somehow still or is it the beginnings of a BFP??? The trigger was 250mcg of Ovidrel btw... HELP!!

Do me a favor and go check out the tests on my page? And any input yall have is NEEDED!!! :)

redshadoe..... I see the line!!! I can't really say whether it still cos of the trigger.. I don't know enough about that to offer an opinion. But I'm keeping everything I have crossed that it's not from the trigger and it really is

Okay Ladies! 11DPO/12DPT and the line is still there... digi says NO but you can't deny the line on the first response still. It's kinda gettin darker. *sigh* I'm praying praying praying its a sticky baby... PLEASE LORD.

redshadoe ... that last test you posted looks definitely positive to me!! I couldn't really see it in the first one, but could in the one you 'tweaked'. The newest one is easy to see! Still have for you!!

I am curious though, and I really don't mean any offense by this, but why test so early?? This is a genuine question... still new to all this POAS stuff lol!! I don't understand why people test at 9 or 10dpo (or some even earlier)... would seem to me like you are more likely to get a negative, which would upset me, even though it's possible to still get a positive a few days later.

AFM... stated using to OPKs yesterday. Is it normal for the test line to be darker one day and lighter the next? I mean, the test I did yesterday (the first one I've taken) the line was darker (but still not as dark as the contriol line) than it was today.

KLS hahaha bc I'm an admitted POAS addict :) And it started off with me wanting to test the trigger out to see when it would leave my system. And once I got that BFN I tested the next day just to see and huh... the line is back!!! I just took another one... No doubt about it! getting darker!!!! I cannot WAIT for betas on Monday!!!!

As for the OPKs... yeah the lines do funny things sometimes... if you've got the extra money to spend, the digitals (IMO) are totally worth it... sometimes the lines and trying to decide whether one is as dark as the other is a HASSLE!

The lines were definitely lighter than the control line, but I see your point that a '+ve' or '-ve' ( or however the digitals tell you the results) would be a whole lot less subjective!! I guess I'll see how I go for the next couple of days. According to the ovulation caluclator I should be up for O this week (this one says between 31st July and 4th Aug, one on babycenter.com says Aug 1-6), so maybe I will get some digitals to double-check when I think I have positive.

Yeah that'd work! Are you on meds this cycle? I forgot if you said I'm sorry (and way to lazy to hunt thru previous posts to figure it out myself hehehehe). Good Luck!!!!!
