About this symptom

Acne Breakout

Pregnancy can bring on acne or make existing acne worse. The surge of hormones during pregnancy results in the skin secreting more oils. This oily substance (sebum) combined with dead skin cells can clog pores. The most affected areas seem to be the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. Stress can make acne breakouts worse, so in addition to using an oil-free cleanser and eating a healthy diet, be sure to take steps to relax and take care of your mental and emotional health. Daily exercise will help skin stay healthier too as it increases blood flow to the skin.

Includes: Oily skin, pimples, blemishes, white/blackheads
