The sweetest sound

Posted on February 17th, 2012. Written by .

I had my ultrasound on Wednesday morning at my RE’s office. I really do have a tiny baby in there!!! TINY but with a little flickering heartbeat of 129!

When the image first showed up on the screen I could clearly see the black circle that was the sac. My heart skipped a little beat as I search for something inside the sac. Thankfully, the tech and my doctor knew what to look for and pointed out the baby right at the top of the little shape. They pointed to the heartbeat too, which I couldn’t see well, so then they turned up the sound so I could listen. It was one of the sweetest sounds I’ve heard in my entire life. The sound of new life inside me. I’m so grateful!

My doctor proclaimed everything perfect! The measurements dated me at 6 weeks, 2 days, so about 4 days later than my LMP estimate. This didn’t surprised me, since my levels at 14 DPO indicated later implantation. So my adjusted due date is October 8th!

I still can’t really believe it’s finally happened! After 19 months of ttc I’m finally pregnant. I feel very lucky, I know so many woman now that have been trying for so much longer than that. I’m lucky. I’m blessed…twice!

I guess if everything goes well, this will be my last blog here…maybe I’ll be able to continue writing for the Coundownmypregnancy blog. I don’t know how many people actually read my entires, but I got some nice comments and it felt nice to share. I’ve really enjoyed writing here, it helped me get through the last few months.

I wish you all luck on your journeys and I’m sending out lots and lots of baby dust!!!

  1. Reading this excites me. I will be back to my OB this Oct 18 for my second visit. The first I visited which was last Oct 4 was so thrilling because the doctor said 4 weeks is very early to see something during ultrasound. I hope to hear heartbeat and see little one growing and healthy.

    • Best of luck to you! 4 weeks it definitely too early to see anything, but you should be able to by the 18th! I hope you see a beautiful little fluttering heart! Best wishes to you!

    • Thank you! I am really touched by your comment! It amazes me that anyone read my story, must less that they were really affected by it! I love hearing from people who have read what I wrote. I can’t thank you enough for your comments! To think that something I wrote solidified your desire to have a child moves me in a way that I cannot describe.

I am so lucky, that flickering heartbeat is now my healthy, happy 7 month old little boy. I hope you are as fortunate as I am, and I hope you soon know the joy of being a Mom! Best wishes to you!

  3. Congrats MeAsAMommy, amazing to hear that heartbeat i would imagine!!! I am only just over 5 weeks so hoping to get a scan around 8 weeks and dying to get confirmation that everything is in it’s place and to hear a heartbeat!!!!

  4. I am so glad I came across this post. I’m turning 29 next week and we also had a boy in 2009. TTC#2 since he was about 3 months old. I finally took the dive and started taking clomid. This is my second cycle on clomid and I had a u/s today to check my follicles and lining. Still haven’t heard the results, but this post gives me renewed hope! Thanks so much!

  10. Wow that is so exciting! You and I are on the same cycle with our little babies. My husband and I had been TTC for 2 years with little hope given to us and just found out a couple weeks ago that we are expecting!! I am 6 weeks along today (although my calculated due date is October 12th according to my LMP) and have my first ultrasound this Tuesday! I’m so excited and terrified at the same time. That is wonderful that everything is perfect with your little one so far. Congratulations!! :D

    • Thanks Carin! Congratulations to you!!! Due Date Buddies! :D I was totally terrified before my u/s! I bawled when they showed me the heartbeat because I was so relieved! Best of luck to you!
