Strong Smelling Urine
During early pregnancy urine may become darker in colour and/or have a stronger or different smell than usual – be sure to drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses a day). If you are experiencing any pain you should speak with your doctor as it could also be a sign of a urinary tract infection. This change in smell or strength may also be due, in part, to an increased sense of smell some women experience in very early pregnancy.
As of January 18, 2009 this symptom is most commonly reported by pregnant women on 11 days past ovulation with approximately 8.5% of women reporting it.

I’ve been looking for all the pregnancy symptoms before missed period and I didn’t know that this could be one of them. I’m now 8dpo and I hope to get a positive soon. Thanks for the information.
I have been experiencing very strong urine for a couple days with no other sympotms of either pregnancy or a UTI. I am 12 dpo and do not want to test too early. I had to take a urine analysis test today for a new job where the guy there commented on the string color and concentration of the urine. He asked me if I hadn’t gone to the restoom that morning, when, in fact, I did. Could I be pregnant?
I’ve been on the pill since my son was born 8 years ago. 2 months ago I took a mild herbal anti-depressant Called st johns wort for 3 weeks and later found out it can negate the pill. Since then my period never really get going and only lasts 1 or 2 days. Now my urine looks abit darker and smells stronger. Could I be pregnant? I’m 41 years old so thought I might be going through early menopause?!
My friend delivered her daughter 1 month after she found out that she had a UTI(urinary tract infection)and she immediately consult her doctor about it.
I didn’t know this was a symptom. This website is great, I’ve learned so much! Thank you – keep up the great work.
