Can you drown a preg test?!?!

Hi ladies im currently 5days late 18dpo. Done a test last night from pound shop white n pink test stick....i litrally held my wee for three hours but i completley soaked the whole window..after 3 mins i could see two lines then it all went smudged hour later there was only one line. I looked at the test this morning and it was still soaked and one control line neg test. Thoughts please ladies x
