Question

can antibiotics interfere with my menstrual cycle?

I'm going to try to make this short. I received a shot of antibiotics on the 10th of this month due to an umbilical cord hernia. I was due to start my period the day after on the 11th. That would have been to a 32-day cycle for me. I am now on day 42 and I believe 22 or 23 days past ovulation. I had a negative pregnancy test 2 days ago. I was doing a lot of cramping up to the day that I should have gotten off of my period. stop cramping for a couple days and last night the cramping came back. definitely feels like PMS cramps. I really don't think I'm pregnant but I am concerned. Me and my husband would like to have one more child one day. just want to be healthy to be able to do that. I did some Googling and saw that a lot of articles they guess antibiotics can interfere with your menstrual cycle and some that say no. Anyone out there experience the same thing with antibiotics. I had one gram shot on the 10th and a week supply of oral antibiotics afterwards. I took probiotics too.

As an LPN, I can tell you that they do. I have experienced it myself along with my patients. So yes they can.
